I apologize for my ranting. I just don't like when ppl claim to be experts but don't examine the subject from every angle. I really am DONE now though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Any feelings of frustration? If so, then you've officially been "Allmenjoi'd"! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) You should've heard her recollection of Tupac and Digital Underground...those facts were completely shot to hell. I cant find the thread though... |

Trust me Franchize, she STILL wont get it. Whenever this interview between Mayweather and Dyson takes place, I will be sure that there's another thread opened since this one has gone to shit. When she gets caught up and called out in her posts, she just starts throwing numerous names in her posts, backed by some flimsy facts that often get countered later on in the discussion. When all of these names are thrown into her posts, we're often trolled into these off-topic discussions to compensate for her lack of boxing knowledge and her on-going need for attention...even if she has to be constantly redirected, harassed, and degraded in order to get it. A sad specimen she is... Speaking of which, when does the interview take place? How'd you guys like the one with Costas? I thought Costos walked the thin line of probing and playing it safe pretty well. |

I believe this Mayweather/Dyson interview airs on the 14th, but I cant really remember. I wish that info would have been in the opening post of this thread, but thats another story. I liked the Costas interview, though there wasn't too much new info other than Floyd talking about his dad's current status. Costas almost gave me the notion that either he is a Pacquiao fan, doesn't understand the business, was told to ask those questions, or he just wants the fight to happen. My opinion...he's a Pacquiao fan that doesn't understand the business, and was being told to ask those questions because he and others want the fight to happen. |

Yea, would have been nice to get some info about the interview in the thread...about the interview. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes_anim.gif) I thought Costas showed he's a casual fan who doesn't "get it" but he did allow Floyd to speak and wasn't disrespectful for the most part. He clearly showed who's side he's on but he didn't seem like he was in attack mode like that old fart Merchant. |

He clearly showed who's side he's on but he didn't seem like he was in attack mode like that old fart Merchant. That's what I liked about it. I figured it out a long time ago...when you give Floyd a chance to speak freely, you usually hear something new, after he runs down the usual stuff that he repeats. The part that kills me is that, these guys doing the interviews are too busy trying these jedi mindfucks on Floyd, and end up with nothing. Hell, Kellerman tried it in the Face-Off, by basically alluding the fact that he and Pacquiao's legacy will be in question if they dont fight. Floyd caught it quick, and shut it down. At that point of an interview...its hard to get anything else out of him, solely because of those useless attempts to get info. He is a bit of a diva when it comes to questions being asked, but hey, I would much rather them allow him to go through his rituals of talking then let him speak freely, so we can hear something new. I honestly want Jim Lampley to do an exclusive interview with Floyd. As much as he can allow his bias and man-crushes get in the way, he does have a way of producing a tremendous interview. |

Even though no real news came from the interview, other than his current relationship with his dad, I have to admit it made me revisit my opinion on the May/Pac negotiations. It made me realize just how ridiculous Manny getting a 50/50 split is. Think about it. As big as Manny's fanbase is, if he loses to Floyd, it won't really tarnish his career. If Floyd loses, it's a huge stain. Really, why SHOULD Manny get 50/50. He's never made as much money as Floyd was offering him. He has losses and draws on his record. He has @ least 3 debatable fights. He's coming off a very less than stellar fight in which a huge percentage of viewers, including a lot of well respected boxing aficionados, say he lost. Meanwhile, the closest fight Floyd has had was way back in like 2001. The only "weakness" you can even nitpick on in the last decade is a few early rounds against Judah and 2 big shots in one round against Shane (in which he came back at the end and was still the aggressor). If you want to throw in Hatton's pressure and De La Hoya's futile attempts to the body (a silly split decision), go right ahead but I won't. Meanwhile, even in his most lopsided fights, Manny's face has gotten busted up.
If Floyd beats Manny, there will just be another guy that they're saying he's ducking. Probably Martinez. End of the day, I get why Floyd is saying Fuck Outta Here! |

Ok maybe I'm not done lol Sorry, but I have to do this one last time. Read his book. Maybe you'll understand WHY he said what he said. It's a reference to an reporter who said one minute, Jay Z is the deepest, most revolutionary rapper but at the same time, he is also flashy. It leaves his listeners confused. She said it after she saw him with a Che Gueverra tee on and his Rocafella chain. It was a stab at the reporter because Jay is basically saying why do I have to dress like Arrested Development to be considered revolutionary? It's also him saying it's OK to be confusing because it adds to the intrigue of his persona and music...hence the words "I'm complex." Dude, I grew up in and around Hip Hop throughout my life in NYC. Even underground rappers and 90s rappers who never got their just due say Jay Z is amazing. So when you throw out your "non mainstream" guys like that makes you and Allmenjoi somehow more in tune with "real hip hop" I laugh. The fact that Allmenjoi thinks Lil Wayne is a "great wordsmith" alone excludes her from the conversation lol. I grew up on groups like Onyx, Souls of Mischief, LONS. Brand Nubian, Jungle Brothers, Tribe,Native Tongues, black moon, Lost Boyz, Organized Konfusion (prince po is actually my uncle), Naughty etc. Let's get back to boxing because Hip Hop isn't your calling. You dont wanna argue this with me lol not sure how old u are....but i've been a part of the hip hop culture for most of my life. i used to breakdance...i was a graffitti artist and dj/producer for many years. i started dj'ing at the age of 12 and learned from a cat from the bronx. i have fam all in nyc but i'm not from nyc...i'm from chicago. i know the history. i know some of the players. i've rocked sets, block parties and actually opened up for acts and dj'd around the world. i know ppl and i've produced for an emcee from brooklyn who came up with sticky fingas from onyx. one of my best friends is an original member of the wu...i've been on stage with them. jay z may be complex/contradictory but his lack of understanding for who che was and rocking the shirt with an iced out necklace speaks volumes. ain't shit about him revolutionary. none of what he did was groundbreaking. i'll give it up though...he has some classics. i never claimed to be more in tune. jay z became the man by default. he filled a void that was left because 2 other cats were killed. i didn't care much for his shit before they died...and not much changed after. everyone is entitled to their opinions....no matter how foolish i think they may be. |

He's never made as much money as Floyd was offering him. When had Floyd ever made 40 million in a fight. The PPV revenue for that fight will most likely set a new record and you expect Pac not to want any part of that? But the fact of the matter of Floyd being a better fighter, a better boxer, less bruised face, more convincing wins etc etc has nothing to do with a split, that's just the bullshit mixed into it all. It's who's the bigger draw, and yes you could claim it's Floyd doing 2.4 million with De La Hoya but he takes his breaks and there's that tension, when he comes back with all the what if's he's slower etc. which I doubt he ever will be. A 50/50 split is fair, in the sense that they split the revenue down the middle, then Manny pays whoever off aka the Bobfather and his promotions company, and Floyd pays, Golden boy and Al hamon, and everybody goes home happy. But like I said, greedy bastards the pair of em. |
