jumped 2 weight classes... beat an undefeated avoided fighter (aydin) beat berto... he wasn't favored to win either match. he's my pick. i'd say danny garcia is my 2nd choice. |

Danny Garcia. He meant business this year, good entertaining fights, devastating kos, and launched his career. Promising young fighter going forward.
Nonito would probably be second, his win over mathebula was his best win by far this year. The other two guys were completely out of their league and just looking for a retirement check. Math was game smart and skilled I thought the fight was very close until the champ rounds. Guerrero had a good year, but to me the way he did it was dirty. His whole style, the way he seemed to try to sell his widest story, even his entourage seem dirty. Not to mention the whole broner thing that seemed like hes just begging for attention. Matthysse (huge fan of his) had a solid year as well. Knocked out soto, had a great fight with ajose. Would love to see him in some bigger fights. Alexander had a big year, even though it wasn't very entertaining (please god don't let him and guerrero end up in the ring together, it would be the second coming of Alexander Bradley). Froch had a big year as well This post has been edited by checkleft: Dec 18 2012, 02:56 AM |

Danny Garcia. 3 wins with 2 good KO's. My 2nd pick is Matthysse with Nonito 3rd.

Id say Donaire. Impressive knockout wins and he sent his last two opponents into retirement.

garcia beat a shot morales but fair enough he did do a damn good job in the khan fight.
donaire, mehhhh his wins all have a * next to them. i cant give it to mayweather, based on one fight. i want to give it to Andre Ward, but he just hasn't done enough this year, I hope he doesn't become a one fight a year fighter marquez beat pac in a beautiful fashion(i think this alone should give him it), and some fedchenko i dont see why he shouldnt deserve it |

Sergio Martinez can get a nod from me too, he's still dominating for an older fighter

Come on, Guerrero ? Yes, he jumped two weight divisions, but who he beat...broken Berto with over a year long lay off and Aydin with a record filled with mostly nobodies. No no from me.
I think the award should go to Marquez. He had only one fight in 2012 but I think it's safe to say it was an awesome one. Danny Garcia is my favorite though. Definitely his breakthrough year and he did it with flying colors. |
