So far, Williams is 2-0-0 (1) as a middleweight.
Also consider he's only 2-0-0 (2) as a jr middleweight. Also consider he's never fought for a major world title strap and has a loss on his record only five fights ago to Quintana. Of his two biggest wins, one has since been bettered (and then some) by Shane Mosley and the other was vs a guy who had lost his last fight and not fought for two years. It's hardly the resume of a top contender, is it? Don't get me wrong, I think Williams IS feared by the top names and IS an exciting fighter with LOTS of potential. It's just not exactly a Bennie Briscoe type record, is it? Get some frequent, consistent wins over top contenders, quit fighting for stank-ass WBO belts and FORCE the top guys to fight you. Williams could have quite easily taken Marco Antonio Rubio's spot by beating up on the WBC's top middleweight contenders and becoming the mandatory. He can quite easily become Shane Mosley's mandatory by doing the same damned thing. We can all moan about the fighters picked to be the mandatories for these world sanctioning bodies, but how could any of the governing bodies conceivably make Williams a mandatory based on his weight flipping and WBO-love recently? PWill shouldnt be complaining about top guys not wanting to fight him... especially not at welter. PWill owned a strap at 47 and he left it behind on his own accord. He could of waited a bit for a fight to materialize whether it was a rematch with Margs, or a Mosley/Cotto fight. He never gave them a chance, he just took off division hopping. Now his promoter wants to challenge Mosley to fight him. If he had just stayed at 47 he would probably would be signed up to face Mosley right now.

PWill isn't complaining about anything. The whole talks about Pavlik were between promoters. I understand PWill needs to do more before getting a shot, but who deserves a shot? You can make an argument for Sturm, but a shutout victory over Winky Wright is better than anything Sturm has ever done.... Im just saying.

I don't think so. How about Williams actually hangs around a division long enough to become the top contender & get his shot..... He was a champion at 147. Nobody wanted to fight him. Mosley, Mayweather, Cotto or Margarito (with a rematch). The point is fair enough, but how is Mora a top contender at 160? |

How exactly? Explain how Winky beats Pavlik. Plain and simple. He outboxes him. What can Pavlik do better than Winky? The only real argument is his power. Its not like he is going to be punching from angles and using footwork like Williams did. If he overwhelms Winky with a barrage of punches I could see him winning that way but with what I've seen throughout his career it aint happening. |

I never said that Mora is a top contender at 160 I said Williams should earn a shot at the champion not be expected to get one. A fighter as allegedly dangerous as Williams is purported to be needs to eliminate the competition so that he can either force the champion to fight him or publicly shame him for not fighting him. |

Kind of hard to force yourself to a mandatory when other contenders dont want to fight you.

True but make the noise requried. Sue the people who are mandated to fight you if they won't fight & get public.
