Thanks Professor! Good look. If Oscar was in his prime do you think he would school Canelo? I think he would murder Canelo with his jab. I think Canelo has an average ring IQ. he is more flash than substance. He reminds me of Jason Williams aka white chocolate when he was playing, great in certain instances but overall he is okay that is how I feel about Canelo. jason williams the basketball player? wow! i haven't heard that name in quite a while. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) i think a prime dlh beats canelo because of the jab and superior feet. canelo is a decent counterpuncher. he has skills...but he's not the great fighter they're making him out to be. they don't have confidence in the kid. if they did...they would have matched him against solid opposition. |

DLH's legacy...I'll take the easy route here:

Yeah the basketball player. I remember when he first came out he played for Sacramento and people were going ape over Jason Williams aka white chocolate, they loved him but once pressure was put on him the kid was DONE! I think the same will happen with opposition with Canelo. The moment he faces someone with any ring IQ he is done. Professor imagine the May 4th with this under card: Victor Ortiz vs. Andre Berto Canelo vs. Trout and Mayweather vs. Juan. |

Arum made this big deal about Oscar taking a dive in the fight it was pathetic really. That shot hurt me. No one would take that punishment Oscar had to go up in weight and fight a very skilled fighter. You know what is sad, that Golden Boy and TR can't just squash whatever issues they have and make great fights. Rios and Guerrero would be a hell of a fight! But since they are on different sides it will never happen. \ Back to Oscar, he fought everyone but lost the big fights which is why I do not consider him great, a good fighter but not great. Back to your sig: I wouldn't be surprised if that fight actually happens when Doniare gets to 130 or 135 lol! Im not even looking forward to either parties making amends. Bob recently made it clear that he didn't want to make a Rios/Matthysse fight, or a Mares/Donaire fight. He also went on to say that GBP doesn't know how to do business, and so forth. I have to find the link to that article...it couldn't have been longer than a month ago. Actually he lost the Sturm fight IMO and I thought he lost the Quartey fight as well but as stated he did fight everyone though. He was another fighter would did great with fighters who just came straight forward like Mayorga and JLC Sr. I believe he lost that fight as well, I just wrote it wrong. I described what kind of "shape" he was in, in that Sturm fight. The Quartey fight was close, but I believe I gave to Quartey by a point or two (I gotta find Mit's "DLH/Quartey" revisited thread). DLH's legacy...I'll take the easy route here: To quote Morris Day from the Time: "Fish net, black pantyhose...." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Right on! Honestly, had he not gotten embarrassed by Manny, I believe he would've had a few more fights, regardless of his retirement schedule that he spewed before the Forbes fight. |

Who is really responsible for Oscar's success of Golden Boy? Is it Oscar or is it his people behind him? What I find interesting about Oscar is he worked the hell out of what he had and so far he is doing a great job. Oscar still is on that blow. He always looks high |

It appears to be a 50/50 thing. Oscar's popularity along with Eric Gomez and Richard Shaefer (sp), made GBP what it is today. I'm wondering the company still has money issues like it did not too long ago. They've been putting together some interesting cards over the past couple of years...I'm wondering if they're getting a decent return on those cards (money wise). |
