i've been to a lot of places in the u.s. and over seas. the midwest, the chi, detroit, st. louis, indiana...etc..etc...are very segregated in comparison to the rest of the country. always has been....always will be. that's what i mean by stuck in the past. i was born and raised on the south side in englewood. i know all about the chi...i lived there for almost 30 yrs. i wasn't around to see mlk get bricks thrown at him in gage park...but i do remember the kkk having rallies at marquette park in the 70's/80's. i also remember getting chased out of certain neighborhoods because i was the wrong complexion. i knew/met the kid that put lenard clark in a coma in bridgeport...and i just saw the video not too long ago of the white kids trying to stomp out the asian kid in what looks like bridgeport. that's pretty much stuck in the past.

That's funny, I grew up on 89th Paulina. I wasn't around for the MLK incident either as I'm an 80's baby. But the stuff you mention is nothing new and I've been thru similar incidents as I was a brother rice high school student and I was at the game where they chanted n*gger to the Thornton players and fans. as far as the segregation here, Im sure you know that good ol Mayor Daley is the cause of that.

I respect what your saying but I also respectfully disagree with it, the things you've named happen..unfortunately, in most places. I guess it's a matter of experience, because for me the stuck in the past region is the south. I ws born here I'm Chicago, then moved to Mississippi until I was 12, a huge part of my family is from there and that's the worse state I've ever
been too, Alabama is another hot bed of racial bullshit, Lousiana has laws on the books that clearly are directed at minorities . In essence this whole country is stuck in the past and that's really quite sad

Your right, it's definitely trouble and unfortunate incidents that break out everywhere, but Texas is a place that I don't like to frequent. I've heard some stories about that state too.

I hated de la sale too lol, but not as mch as i hated Leo, those were my arch nemesis. Brother rice was bad, especially during that specific time period but I made the best of it and when I was there we used to beat de la sale lol. Truth be told I wanted to stay at Simeon but I got kicked out. Maybe I would've had the scholarship Derrick got if I would've stayed lol

I got kicked out for excessive disciplinary infractions. I got in almost 8 fights and the first quarter of school wasn't even do e yet. That's when my mom moved us outmof the neighborhood and I had to go to Brother Rice.

Ok, I remember that know, I remember King used to have this big man every1 thought was going pro, I think his name was Deion. When I was a teen I would practice with Hyseal Sheppard and Bobby Simmons when they were at Simeon. I dont know if you remember Kevin Garnett's old hs teammate Ronmie Fields but me and him play in a league together on the weekends now.

Yup, I'm in the Chi now, I moved to the west burns recently though

Sometimes, my fan appreciation of Floyd is like my views towards Kanye West or the infamous Twerk Team. You love to see them perform but sometimes it's best if you never hear them talk lol That being said, every once in a while, Floyd says something that is completely true, that nobody wants to say, because everyone's gotta be politically correct nowadays. As with the Taylor Swift situation, what Floyd said probably wasn't warranted, but it isn't necassarily false. I'm even more of a basketball fan than I am boxing. I take nothing away from Lin. He's playing phenomenal basketball. That said, his hype has been tremendously enhanced by the fact that #1 He's Asaian and #2 He's from Harvard. It's no different than saying Tiger receives more attention because he's black. It's absolutely true. It's just unfortunate that everytime someone mentions race, automatically people get offended without even knowing why. And this is coming from a BLACK MAN who's a DIE HARD KNICKS FAN!!!! (and I've been one since I came out the womb...not just 2 weeks ago)

#3 he's playing in new york

Yep, that's him, Ronnie Fields and hes the guy everybody thought would be Jordan's heir. Great jump shot and to this day I haven't seen anyone with his leaping ability. He even tried to declare for the draft but he got caught up in a rape case and it was over, he's been bouncing around from league to league since. I fully understand why you left. I only stay here because i have a marketing biz but me and my girl have already begun discussing possible placeswe want to move to
