although i think this fight should have happened years ago...i think cotto at one point was being groomed to face mayweather. he faced a serious of fighters that i thought were prepping him. u can never get the kind of preparation u need...but with that in mind, i don't think cotto will have problems dealing with floyds speed or boxing. he has had problems with constant pressure and guys forcing him to fight a very active pace. floyd does neither and he knows that. cotto is a well rounded fighter. he has a very solid trainer in his corner. i'm sure they'll have more than one game plan. i'm eager to see this thing play out. i give him a very firm chance as well.

ppl say mayweather is unbeatable. i've never believed that. everyone is beatable. he and his ppl have just been very good at picking opponents who have some of the ingredients to beat him but fall short in most areas. in comparison to most of those opponents....cotto has way more ingredients. the things he will need to do to beat floyd, he is very capable of doing. i can't wait to see this fight!

am curious, say you were someone like cotto, how would you beat Mayweather?

Personally I don't think Floyd was nervous I think he was more agitated and taken aback because he couldn't get under Cotto's skin. I think Floyd respects Cotto but Cotto can be boring sometimes so Floyd was trying to get him to say something stupid so he could attack him but Cotto didn't so Floyd couldn't diss him so now it's all about the fight. No antic just fighting

u have to throw high percentage shots. if u think ur going to get clean shots...or u wait for clean shots...they'll never come. u have to keep a steady jab on him. it doesn't have to be hard...it just needs to be consistent. and definitely be ready to move ur head or block the counters. counter the counters with combinations. floyd likes to slow fights down with his defense which is excellent. let him move his head...let him roll the shoulders...but beat the shoulders and arms. aim for the chest and finish with hooks to the body followed by shots to the head. u cannot allow urself to fall into a pattern. constantly mix the shit up. he's too good at figuring shit out. steady pressure will eventually lead to him picking u apart so u need to back off once in a while to force him to come forward and be ready to counter his aggression. make him move his head and follow with the body attack. he's not going to move around much because he's sitting in the pocket more lately and even coming forward. on the inside u have to make it rough but watch it because he's pretty good at making it rough too. maybe an occasional shot to the thigh, ass or back just to make him worry a little. it'll take a high energy kind of fight....but it's not going to happen in one round. be prepared to switch it up several times and u can come back to some of what works. floyd isn't the type to force a pace so cotto will be able to sit back and rest when he needs to. these are just some thoughts off the top of my head. i think cotto is capable of most of them.

that's highly possible which speaks to the way they fight. we may see some of the same play out in the ring.

Pretty much.

Max: It's kind of hard to work up anger towards that guy (Cotto), you know?
Mayweather: I mean, he's a ummm... he's a quiet killer. Miguel Cotto's tough. He's gon' come to fight.

I agree, Floyd likes to get in guys heads because it throws them off their gameplan. Cotto is to smart for that at this point in his career. With that said if Cotto hurt Floyd during the fight he better be ready to go through deep waters for the win because Floyd becomes very agressive when he's hurt or feels threatened, we saw it with chavez, augusta, corley, mosley, etc and we have seen Cotto bend to it, thing is will he press through it.

Nazim Richardson, is that you? You are prob right on the money with that prediction, just like Richardson was when he said, "I expect Shane to come out and hit Mayweather in the mouth with a right hand and I expect Mayweather to sprout a tail, grow wings, and turn into a dragon, then I will tell Shane to stay out of the fire."

lol....Hey I tell people all the time, fighters make the mistake thinking Floyd all defensive. His offensive can really get nasty if he needs to use it unfortunately most guys can't bring it out of him. But for the record I think Cotto has a chance of making this a hell of a fight

With the 8 oz. gloves, it's possible.
