Actually I think Floyd's win over Mosley, old as he was, was a better win than Victor's UD over Berto. Face it dude Berto is rubbish.

How can I not place stock in Ortiz's fights pre-Berto. That is is whole career bar one fight. Please please please tell me that you are not claiming that his nip and tuck win over a B- level champion in Andre Berto has taken Victor to some new heights?

Yeah it is an improvement on quitting against Maidana but in no way readies him for the challenge that is Floyd Mayweather. This is a tune-up stay busy fight for Floyd, which is no bad thing, and has the added benefit of there being a strap involved, but can we at least call a spade a spade here?

Well, I'd argue otherwise. Mosley was washed up, and still managed to briefly relieve Floyd from his senses. Berto is a tough customer for any welterweight given his speed and power, and it showed a lot of courage and willpower to walkthrough Berto the way Ortiz did. Ortiz is going to be better than he's ever been on Sept 19, Floyd won't be.

Mayweather beat a washed up Mosley after a long ass layoff... that ain't nothing big, and that was Mayweather BEST win at welterweight. I have no doubt Mayweather will likely stretch Ortiz by the 12th round, and I have less doubt that he's going to win, but it's not an easy fight. Mayweather is great but he's not invincible. Ortiz is tough for anyone if he fights fearlessly.

I really feel bad for Ortiz, the thread I made for him turned into a FMJ thread. I like Floyd but there is another guy in the fight. Oh well. I am just curious how his career goes after it is all said and done. He has an appealing attitude, cocky but not a complete bore and turn off. Not only that but his story is amazing. I would like to see him fight Khan or SM. That would be a great match. The only person I want to see FMJ fight after this fight is either Pac or Cotto. That would be my only interest well and Bradely.

Eighty88Eight I would take you up on your offer if you promise to marry me afterward....

but im just a pup, dear. scarcely 24 years old... still growing into my own and whatnot. i've got a good job though! but you know, I have this policy of liking to see a woman before I marry her.

How was Mosley washed up? He starched Margarito in his previous bout, a fight he was a 5-1 underdog in, and was a heavy favorite going into the Berto fight. I understand he could have gotten old argument but nothing in his previous fights had suggested that. He was out-boxed by Mayweather similar to Marquez and Marquez wasn't washed up after that. I understand he looked bad against Mora but that was a bad style match-up for him and he was the much smaller man. He looked bad against Pac but its hard for any recent fighter to look good against him. Mosley deserves a chance against a live up and comer to prove he still has it or really is shot. I'd like to see him fight Maidana

But didnt you have an issue with the manner in which Sugar Sham went out in the Pac fight?

Thats why I dont think Mosley deserves another big fight. I dont give a fuck he's shot or not, I want value for money. I'm being hypothetical here cos he wont ever feature on a UK PPV again, thats not in doubt, but if i'm you lot over there I dont want my HBO or Showtime subscription money or worse, PPV money going on someone who had a massive fight in front of a huge gate (I was one of them) and a huge PPV audience and proceeded to Audley Harrison the shit out of it.

haha, he's a damn good actor then. give the man his oscar....

The only credit i give him is that he's able to avoid the temptations of drinking and partying. I'd like to see some documentation of the Pacquiao party animal that is talked about so much

Mayweather was lucky to encounter Mosley before anyone else had a shot to reveal how washed up he was. He's looked incredibly un-Mosley-like in 3 fights in a row now. Mayweather got him after a long ass layoff.

I see merit in your argument and was against the Pac vs Mosley fight from the get go. He survived in there and although i understand that I thought Mosley was more of a warrior than that and would go out on his shield. My HBO money has went to far worse fights(Judah vs Khan recently) haha. I think Mosley can be effective against a come forward brawler and I think Maidana could stop him and put a good name on his resume. I would hope HBO/Showtime would be smart and put it in a small ring with no room to run. Mosley has done a lot for the sport and I'd like to see him in there against a 2nd tier fighter before i write him off completely. America is the land of opportunity and deserves a chance to make up for his past transgressions. If he put on a stinker i say black ball him but his losses have only come to the best in the sport recently

That link has a place in the "gay boxer" thread too, cos anyone whose "Fiancee" would buy into that shit is in a SHAM!

He can step down to undercard then at least cos he surely cant be allowed his name in lights again until he gets redemption or annihilation in his next fight
