Recently caught up with all the ESPN FNF stuff and this guy looks like he can go the whole way.

At 5,11 he is massive for the weight and will probably move up a few weight divisions before he retires. The boy from Cuba has everything , fast jab , KO power , brilliant body attack which he switched to the head with ease , supremely confident , a great inside game and a walk forward style that will be crowd pleasing.

Whisper it....i thought his style in beating another 130lb prospect in Hylon Williams Jnr was MARGARITO like when the mexican was at his peak.

15-0 11 KO's im hoping this guy gets a lot of exposure this year as i think hes ones of the best younger fighters ive seen in a while. ESPN should defo get him on more to showcase his talents.

What are your Thoughts on his performance vs Williams Jnr on the 3rd Feb????

I agree completely. Got to say that I would have posted exactly what you posted. I watched it and from some of the pre-fight articles it ended up being an upset, which is very hard to believe after seeing Barthelemy, who looked like the favourite. What was obviously impressive is that his opponent was v. highly rated and didn't look bad at all, it was a v. good match. Two young boxers that have bright futures.

It's insane that he's 130lbs. Yup, no way is he staying at that weight.

ESPN3 might still have it up, or I'm sure that it's on YouTube. What makes Barthelemy even more intresting is that Hylon Williams is, as you said, pretty good and still looked good on that night, Barthelemy just looked better.

Is this the tall dude with the big ass head that fought last week? If so, he had pretty good power, still has a bit of work to do, but if anybody had sense, they would especially avoid his punches.

I really like his combinations and kind of a more intelligent approach to applying pressure. (With a bit of defense i mean)

However as I watched the fight vs Hylon I noticed he gets hit a lot.

All in all I was impressed more by Hylon then Barthelemy though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

5'11" and 130 pounds reminds me of a prime Diego Corrales. When you get guys that are super tall for a division (Paul Williams also comes to mind) they always seem to do pretty well early in their careers because they are huge compared to their opponents.
