RJJ pretty much found a newly believable reason for his 2004 KO loss to Tarver. True or not, with all of the shit showing its ugly face in boxing...can you blame him for reaching? Yay? Nay? |

Fascinating, fascinating issue here.
RJJ may well have a point here. Steroid testing is still so far in its infancy for our beloved sport that anyone from past eras could have been juicing and gotten away with it. Then again, I honestly believe that RJJ made the biggest mistake of his career by not staying at Cruiserweight/Heavyweight. That 25 pound weight cut to get back down to 175 lbs. completely killed his legs. At that point in his career, he was too old to attempt something so ambitious. Dude was basically cutting muscle mass to get to 175 and didn't have much left, which is why all it took was a few good shots to call it nightey night. Lastly, pot calling the kettle black ? I mean, wasn't RJJ also using ? |

As far as his positive test, it was for Androstenedione, which was an over the counter supplement that was only banned by the IBF at the time. The supplement was tested and was proven to be ineffective in building strength or muscle mass. His opponent in that fight tested positive for the same supplement. |

Love RJJ, but with respect to a legend, he got caught with a hellacious shot and aint been the same since. I guess all them other ass whoppings he took, including this past weekend was a "possible" result of PEDs.
