The Montreal version of Duran was an absolute BEAST... One of the few fighters I give a chance against a prime Robinson due to his strength, cat like reflexes, infighting ability, and his quick right hand. Duran had underrated defense as well, and he was an expert at slipping, rolling, and using angles to counter punch.
Robinson with his height and reach, speed, quick jab, and his left hook-bolo uppercut combo would meet Duran head on like Leonard did when he found himself in a brawl. I like Robinson via close decision but this truly could go either way. |

The Duran from the 1st Leonard fight would give Robsinons hell this is a toss up but it could be one of those trilogies were Duran takes the first then Robinson makes some adjustments and takes the next two.

This is a toss up. Robinson at 147 was dropped by Artie Levine, Tommy Bell, and Jake Lamotta. Its not inconcievable that Duran could do same since he had more skills and was a more accurate puncher than the other three.

It might be a trilogy but Sugar Ray Robinson will come out on top...

Ray Robinson for sure in this match up..Robinson would be jabbin the hell out Duran while using his feet..Robinson can punch perfect on the move cause he's always 100% balanced with feet which would win him the fight..10-5 or 9-6 for Robinson..
It would of been a great trilogy.. |

It would of been a great trilogy.. I dare say it would be closer than that... Its well documented during the 5 fights they had when Robinson was at welterweight that Lamotta would succesfully bull his way inside by that jab and make Robinson FIGHT... Sugar would be rightfully favored for sure, don't get me wrong. But he wouldn't be able to keep Duran away at distance for 15 rounds. Duran had the head movement to slip in between some of Robinson's shots the way he did to Leonard and he would be able to hurt Robinson inside with his bodyshots and not to mention that quick sneaky right hand counter of his. But it would be a great trilogy as you said. |
