they seem to do a great job of finding refs that do not notice his tendency to lead with his head and punch low...to the back...behind the head....etc. this guy is dirty and i am becoming more and more disappointed every time i see him fight. if you're good...u don't have to pull this shit. the ref had the best seat in the house and could see all of these things...but just refused to call them or deduct points. and since when is turning your opponent illegal??? mares punched moreno right in the ass in front of the ref...right before the knockdown. no warning...no nothing. even with warnings...he just kept doing the same thing he always does.
i think arum is too smart to let his fighters fight mares in california. |

I feel the same way. That dude had that stupid look in his eyes all night long, as if he knew that he was gonna get away with anything borderline illegal. I found it funny how the ref ended up taking a point away from Moreno, but not Mares. He was leading with his head all night, but gladly, Moreno was able to use angles to avoid some of it. At this point, I just don't like Mares like that, though I'll still watch him fight. Bad officiating has enabled this dude to be a prick, then he has the nerve to play the victim when asked/criticized about it. |

Man, that ass punch was classic.. it didn't work because he wasn't able to get anything on it. i gotta give moreno major props. most would have folded under that pressure and dirty tactics...but he just kept doing his thing. i think after he watches the video he's going to realize that u can't fight a pressure fighter by moving all night. at some point u have to step into the eye of the storm and back them up otherwise...they'll just keep coming. he backed mares up more than a few times...but not when he needed to. mares would usually cease with his pressure when he was missing head shots...then moreno would pick him apart and slowly back him up. great fight even with the bullshit. |

Why did the ref take a point from Moreno? I truly cant remember, I just knew that it was going to put him behind on the cards. I agree, it seemed like the ref tried to make Moreno stand in there and fight, but he was going to have to do it sooner later anyway. |

I'm pretty lit up about this fight.. not only because mares was blatantly using his tactics but because HE should have gotten more than one point deduction which SHOULD have given moreno the win (because those cards were shit, way too wide). And then you give moreno a deduction?? I was pissed
