i did find amusement in angel garcia's original comments at the first press conference...i didn't think he was disrespectful about it. he didn't call judah a bum or any of that...he just stated fact. i get it...judah was pissed. he reacted and took it to the streets so to speak. that whole ordeal has now blown out of proportion and it's looking highly likely something will go down at tomorrows fight no matter who wins. that's that...no undoing it. god forbid something bad happens tomorrow...and ppl get hurt...it's a black eye for the sport.

now we have malignaggi/broner talking shit to each other...and squaring up and all of that. some of what was said was comical...but i'm seeing a trend here that i think needs to stop real soon. with everyone trying to out-do everyone...and pencil necks with cameras calling themselves jouranalist eggin them on...this is going to take a wrong turn across the board. boxing imo is a classy sport. there's nothing wrong with a little shit talk to sell the fight but in this day and age with social media and everyone with a camera trying to be a reporter....shit is gonna be hitting the fan on the regular. boxing is out of the mainstream already...but encouraging...or keeping this shit alive by giving videos hits and what not is only going to further damage boxings' image.

promoters need to take notice and maybe start including clauses in contracts that limit some of the shit for damage control. not all publicity is good publicity. i know floyd feels like if they're talking about him...good or bad...it's good because it means money for him. he may be the exception. i don't believe that's going to be the case for everyone else. and while hbo was quick to jump on broners jock and sell him as the next floyd mayweather because he's trying to use the same blue print...this kid hasn't accomplished a fraction of what floyd has. maybe al haymon needs to reel some of these guys in and let them earn their way to the top so to speak.

the sports image is very important when u consider it takes money from sponsors to make a lot of this shit happen.

am i alone on this view? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

I disagree. I actually think it's good for the sport. It's entertainment and it helps promote the fight. This is boxing not ballet and at the end of the day no words can amount to the damage that happens in the ring so why not say what you want? This has been going on for years. It's nothing new and it's a part of the sport. I'm all for it. Just my thoughts.

I agree about the Trash Talk! I especially hate Tash Talk before a fight and the Trash Talker doesn't do shit before the fight! How many fights like that can you name where Trash Talkers turned into nothing performers? One of the best that I remember was Bowe-Gonalez. Gonzales was an Olympic star who had beaten Teofilo Stevenson, the Cuban legend, but against Bowe before the fight, he trash talked like hell. He once threw glasses at Bowe's face saying that he was going to kill him come fight night. Gonzalez I think beat Bowe in the amateurs, I believe twice?

Bowe dominated in their pro fight KO'ing the Cuban in the 6th. Gonzalez did NOTHING! He seemed to scared to fight or was looking for a payday, or may have been bribed not to throw punches.

What other fights can you recall where the Trash Talk come fight night, was a Trash dump in the ring?

In the old days, most fighters, except Ali never trash talked unless there was real animosity for an opponent, I think the Trash Talk is stupid. Unless you show your hatred of an opponent in the ring, I think boxers should for the most part, shut the fuck up and let the talking happen in the ring.

There's trash talking in every sport. It comes with the territory. This whole idea of censoring the fighter is ridiculous. Who cares if they back up their words or not. At the end of the day the best man is going to win in any sport regardless of what he says.

Sure!

It will bring more comments because there are so many fighters who fall into this category. I agree with your excellent comments!

I like the controversy, but I agree, it's getting out of hand. When you have witless fucksticks like Broner surrounded by a bunch of sissy dickriders, trying to 1-up the Garcia/Judah controversy, it's no longer entertainment, but a safety hazard. Zab was dumb for approaching the Garcia camp with a bunch of thugs (or so they appeared). You cant walk up to ANYBODY with a big group of people without drawing some type of bad attention, it's inevitable.

Damn I hate Broner though, smh. Maybe it's that pack of beef franks on the back of his neck...dude looks like a bama ass koopa troopa. That Robert Easter cat is supposed to be a boxer, but he's nothing but a punk ass wannabe thug, who has Broner's testicles so far down his throat. Rau'shee Warren's 3-time Olympic failing ass is no better...any dude his size, should be hating life anyway.

All of these dudes are low-life wimps, and to be honest, Broner's doing a good job of ducking guys. He's already scratched Garcia and Peterson off his list, and crowned them his "big brothers". Again, Broner and every booty-fly associated with him, is a ticking time bomb for something embarrassing to happen to boxing.

We've seen some crazy things in boxing, but everything associated with Broner seems to be disgustingly over the top and shameful. Broner just needs to be stopped. Hell, I love entertainment, but Broner's stuff is just cringe-worthy. Broner is the Flavor Flav of boxing, he must be shot...now.

I like trash talk. It's amusing and it sells the fight more. It only sucks when the talk don't come down to the walk.

Plus, we can learn things about trash talk, who's mentally ready for the fight and whatnot.

Agreed. The concept of "trash-talking" speaks to the mental aspect of the sport IMHO, which is all too important. It's often entertaining (when tasteful) and draws intrigue and excitement to the fight. I, too well, enjoyed Paulie's fatherly verbal ass-whooping of Broner. He even showed Broner up on his own turf: "Iíma give you summer teeth for the summer. Some are going to be here, some are going to be there...". Shit cracked me up because he approached it with Broner-eque banter that pretty much said "look see? Whoop yo ass with yo own style (;". It would appear, at least verbally, that Broner may have indeed met his match; though the story created IN the ring may differ.

Yep, it's a necessary evil. IMO a little trash talk or a little barb here or there to your opponent is entertaining. You gon fight any way. Da fuck you supposed to do, just train and look in the camera and praise your opponent. Boring!! That whole leave it in the ring shit is played out. This aint Dempsey's day. It's a different time and you either adapt to it or get left in the past. Some people aren't trash talkers like an Andre ward, that's cool. I respect his skills all the same, but it's no coincidence that the trash talkers are getting the money and the big fights
