I don't know why more guys have pushed for this.

Because of how often they fight, doesn't allow them. In boxing years, having 4 fights is probably wasting 2 years on one guy. That is simply just too long to spend about 2 years on one guy.

To those thinking about how the old timers use to fight each other 4,5,6x and nobody think twice about it, well things were quite different back then. Robinson fought LaMotta like twice in the span of a month. Also there were less available competitive opponents, so if there were only a few qualified fighters in ur weight division, u had to fight them several times.

This fight is worse for Vazquez than it is Marquez because while Marquez took a beating, he also didn't suffer any career ending injuries, while Vazquez most certainly did. Vazquez' eyes are mutilated at this point, and even a soft punch will break open the wounds. Vazquez should retire. He's one of my favs but a detached retina and the severity of the damage on his brow is too much.

Btw, Vazquez' career is much more extensive than just his trilogy with Marquez. He also has a very good trilogy with Oscar Larios and a win over Johnny Gonzalez.
