QUOTE ASSOCIATED PRESS (Colombia)
30 minutes ago Last night, Carlos "El Apostle" Maussa faced longtime rival, Zab Judah, in what would be his final fight....because the former World Junior Welterweight Boxing Champion and beloved Colombian is dead. Earlier this morning, Maussa (who was terminally ill with Cancer), was found naked and motionless in his hospital room's bathtub. Initial reports are stating the death was caused by blunt force trauma to the head. Maussa's best friend and manager, SKULLSPLITTER - The C.E.O., has issued the following statement.... "Carlos Maussa was a great man. He fought and lived without fear. He could take a beating as well as he could dish one out...but in his weakened condition, I knew was extra susceptible to injury. He left the ring on his own accord last night and seemed fine...........I know he didn't mean it....but Zab Judah took my boy! (crying)...that's all....that's all for now..." Several Members of The C.E.O.'s Dungeon immediately announced their retirement following the tragic news of Maussa's passing. This is truly the end of an Era. Stay tuned as we will be following this story with any and all developments... |

Latest news: Judah, NOWHERE to be found!
QUOTE Zab Judah and Carlos Maussa waged war for the 3rd and final time last night. Maussa, who was aboslutely in no condition to fight Zab Judah, lost the brutal war by 7th round knockdout. Zab was happy and went straight home and straight to bed. However, Zab was anything but happy the next morning. The news got to Zab that Maussa had suffered a trauma to his head and had been found dead in his bathtub the next morning. When Judah's best friend, Paulie Malignaggi, told him the news, Judah was absolutely shocked. "His motuh was open, he was speechless." said Paulie. According to Paulie, Judah locked himself in his room. Paulie heard noises of sobbing. "This is really a tragedy. God bless Maussa'." A few hours later, the fighters of Jduah went to comfort the legend in his room. The door was unlocked and Judah was nowhere to be found. "We are all worried for Zab. He is not only our trainer but our friend." said Paulie. Judah is supposed to be fighting Roland Navarette next but as of right now, the fight is off. Judah will probably not be fighting for a while, until we find him. "He is probably back to being a crackhead.....he promised me a payday" said Fernando Vargas." This fight might have really been the end of an era. RIP Maussa. Stay tuned.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

Maxy Krumbsnatcher led the tributes to Maussa from his Krumbsnatcher gym.
He said, "I remember way back when Carlos boxed Pavel "The Spy" Molotov and he'd taken a beating for the entire fight. At the end of the 10th Carlos was literally dead on his feet but he wouldn't give up. He kept coming at Pavel, throwing big bombs and looking for the victory. Going into the 12th Carlos had nothing but his heart left....it was a formality that Pavel would knock him out...I mean the Skullsplitter had to pick him off his stool to send him out for the last round. Pavel walked in and knocked him down....no way could he get up, but the boy got up...he came straight back at Pavel and got floored brutally again...I swear I will never know how he got to his feet, but he did and amazingly he survived the round. When the bell rang Carlos couldn't remember where his corner was and he came and sat down on Pavel's stool. All he kept muttering was, one more round and I can get this chump. I'll never forget it. He was a brave, brave man and the sport of boxing will miss him immensely. Carlos Maussa was a great man....My condolences go to his family and his friends. R.I.P Carlos Maussa. We may never see the likes of him again." |

Judah can't feel responsible....I hope he's alright. Maussa fully knew the risk he was taking. This is all so very tragic...everyone close to Carlos is shook up. They're telling me they can't see themselves training at The Dungeon anymore because of all the memories there...and I understand...for I am contemplating my future as well...
So at this time, I want to find the rest of my boys a new home...these fighters will be transferred to gyms that need impact players, show the most interest, or make the best offers... Heavyweight - Max Kellerman regional_champion (28-8-0) 17(18) will go back to Big G as that is his wish... Light Heavy - Bobby "Tick Tick" Boome regional_champion (20-12-0) 16(18) Super Middle - Tyrone "Soup Bone" Sloan regional_champion (23-12-0) 17(18) Middle - "Hardcore" Dexter Moore (20-18-1) 11(11) Super Welter - Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns (14-4-1) 12(12) will go back to Big G if he wants him... Lightweight - Freddy "The Finisher" McPheerson regional_champion (20-14-0) 13(13) Featherweight - CyruS "Slanger Jr." ViruS regional_champion (22-11-1) 17(17) will go back to CyruS if he wants him... |

I am very moved by Cotto's and Maxy's generosity and tributes...............................
Maussa loved everyone in WebL, and I know he would appreciate such kind gestures. He was one of a rare breed of fighters that could find love for his opponent while warring with them. Walking away from the Dungeon now is not the answer. These fighters need to box on at the Dungeon in honour of their stablemate Maussa. In fact I feel that the Dungeon should set about creating a whole new breed of fighters.

Agreed. Rumor has it that Michael Grant might move to the Dungeon.

Meanwhile.....
New middleweight champ Jowett Pipes, when told of Maussa's death, shocked the boxing world when he said, "Who gives a fuck man? Maussa was a shit fighter, overrated.....fuck I'm only sayin' what everyone thinks. The guy was a bum, a disgrace to the sport. Fuck him, his gym, his family." Pipes' outburst has stunned boxing. |
