yup.

As much as ppl have to say about Dana as a person, and being difficult and uncompromising.. he was 100% right when he spoke about MMA still being in the growth phase. It is too early to start toying with things like this.

The thing is, the reason they started talking about intermediate and modified weight classes was the issues of fighter's not making weight. Well the fact is, more weight classes doesn't change that. Fighter's always tend to go as low as they can, more weight classes means that there will be more ppl trying to walk around like dried-out raisins trying to make even lower weights (and of course with this there will be those who don't make weight.. arguably becoming MORE frequent than it used to be).

Besides, it gets a bit stupid atm. Sure, I did always think about having a sub-heavyweight class at exactly 225lbs and a class between lightweight and welterweight (for fighter's like Nick Diaz and Diego Sanchez..n even Serra, the smaller welters) however the way they've passed this concept of waaaaay more weight classes and modifying the old ones seems as though it will result in far too many weight classes for MMA's current actual level of growth... we're gonna end up with too many champions for ppl to follow, and arguably many of the champs won't be old-champ level...

They should leave it for now, things are fine as they are atm..! Moving welters up to 175, i like that.. and the super lightweight/light welter (i like that too).. and middleweights at 195, loving that too...- Machida, Wandy etc at MW plz! XD.
However, it's the other weight classes in between... too many of them have been added... that's overstepping the mark.

If a change was to be made, IMO... then it shoulda waited a few years and then been the superlightweight class addition... the increasing of the WW and MW thresholds (175 and 195 are fine) and the addition of a sub-HW class (225 is perfect) <-- this last one can only occur when there is a much deeper talent pool.. there isn't enough for this kinda cruiserweight class atm!

I don't like some of the names though. 225-LHW.. fuckoff.. Should be cruiser! 205 should always stay LHW...

They should change nothing. If you are a small welter then tough luck I say. Less weight clases & no super/Jr classes are the go. IMO Boxing should go back to the original 8 as well I think with same day weigh ins.
