Roy was good at 160 but I wasn't anywhere near as impressed with him at 168 and 175..There was something about Roy at 160 that I just didn't like too much,I don't know what though..I feel like he got faster when he moved up to 168..I think the extra food consumption(more weight) helped..

Schmeling was already on the decline when he fought Louis the first time, and even further down the second time. That's not to downplay the importance of Louis' win, which goes far beyond the context of sport, but it's not like he destroyed a prime Jack Dempsey.

I think the Mike Tyson from June 22, 1988 would have given Louis all he wanted.

At 168, Roy Jones. Easy pick.

At 160, I think a Jones-Hagler prime vs. prime matchup would have been absolutely amazing. Hopkins is in the mix along with Monzon.

Ray Robinson was at his best at welterweight but Henry Armstrong HAS to be right there without much doubt. Duran was still tough at 147 but Hearns was absolutely SICK at both 147 and 154. The power. My God, the power!

The best debate comes at lightweight. Roberto Duran, Henry Armstrong, Benny Leonard, and Pernell Whitaker. Think about the other names that have gone through that division on their way to 140 or 147, including Mosley, Chavez, Rosario, and de la Hoya. There, by a NARROW margin, I take Duran over the rest with Armstrong right there with him, perhaps 1a and 1b rather than 1-2.

I hate the fact that Armstrong tends to be a forgotten man in these debates.

Schmeling would of never beat that Louis in the second fight..That was the best Louis..Dude,Louis fucking broke Schmeling's back,his jaw,and ribs in under one round..Tyson never produced that kind of damage in under 3 minutes..Louis had really good defense and was always set to punch anywhere in the ring..Tyson would go down and be out from Louis' left hook to the body and right hand to the head..Tyson's head movement was fast but was predictable..Blackburn would pick Tyson apart and Louis would dispose of him..

He talks a big game thinks he is worth more than he is & refuses to make fights repeatedly preferring to sit out for a year than fight. In the old school that type of behaviour would see you frozen out altogether.

I know but the point is that Robinson can take a loss against LaMotta in a brutal war & then back up 3 weeks, yes that is weeks not 3 months or 3 years later & do it again. I understand that with network deals & PPV etc that is not the case but that is why there will be very few fighters in the future that can be mentioned in the same breath as the old & bold.

Pacman love him loathe him or feel neutral about him does the best he can in the current climate listed above & that is to be admired.
