Isn't that something?

Per Fightnews:

David Haye has pulled out of his June 20 title challenge against WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. Haye apparently suffered an undisclosed hand injury in training and wants six to eight weeks to recover. Klitschko will now consider a replacement opponent on the June 20 date which had generated a sold out crowd of 60,000+ at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. More to come…

I'm guessing Ruiz wants this one too.

If Haye is simply asking for a postponement.....I think Wlad should consider it, as he and his brother refuse to fight at anything less than 100%.

BUT....if he is going to go ahead and fight, there are a few decent replacements.

Holyfield=NOW BEFORE you bash me....I'm not saying I myself want to see this fight....BUT the FACTS are....Holy still generates fan interest and the crowd would love to see him, he is always in shape, and he did beat Valuev the last time he was given a quick shot and he would most likely be willing.

Ruiz=I know people would hate it....but again...in Europe he has garnered interest in his close fights with Valuev and Chagaev. He is a known commodity there and despite people's hate for him....he would be willing and his difficult "style" might make for an ugly but decent fight for a few rounds.

Povetkin=Rock and Haye pretty well muscled their way past Povetkin in the Wlad sweepstakes.....if I remember correctly he was supposed to be given a shot awhile back.

Golota=This would be a decent Euro commodity....and...despite his last outing (which I think was a legit arm tear) he was on a role. If the arm is healed and he is ready....he's as good as any.

Oleg Maskiev= Old solid name....still a decent levle of talent despite the age...could give Wlad a few rounds.

Meehan, Williamson....

KEEP IN MIND....I'm in no way cheerleading for any of these bouts.....I'm just keeping the venue and fans in mind.

The list of solid, named HW commodities is shrinking by the year.

Sure there are a few young guys that could get the nod....Chambers, Arreola, etc. BUT...they have just come off bouts or have one set up...and really IMHO have just about as much chance as any of the guys I listed above.

Holyfield- No way. Would not be the slight bit competative, Klit would destroy him. Though maybe it is what Evander needs.
Ruiz- I guess I could go with this one.
Povetkin- Def would be okay with him.
Golota- Fuck no! He is so washed up. I seen him live on the Jones-Trinidad undercard struggle bigtime. He looked like a shell of himself. Total shellacking.
Maskaev- Nope. Terrible chin and Wlad would KO him within 3 rounds. Would prove nothing.

Not ridiculing your choices either, just my thoughts. I just would rather have a fresh face get in there with Wlad. Povetkin, Chambers, Arreola, Johnson, etc. would be better IMO. But hopefully he just waits on Haye.
