Mayweather has money to burn and can afford to hire a team of lawyers and he's a famous figure that can be used to reach out to the community. I see him avoiding jail but getting a long probation and lots of community service. Probation wouldn't even matter to him since he'll only fight in Vegas anyway. I don't think people realize that this isn't some dude off of the street hiring a public defender, this is a millionaire athlete. There's a chance he could go to prison or get a sentence but there's a better chance he wont. |

until something is settled he cant fight though, because a network isnt going to invest in a fight that may not happen. On january 24th if he gets everything postponed he might be able to fight.

If he wasn't going to even look for an opponent until January I guess that doesn't change much for Mayweather. The question isn't whether or not he goes to trial, it's what he gets sentenced to. And when they postpone at his hearing, which they will, he'll probably have another 6+ months before that sentencing if he keeps his nose clean and doesn't do anything real bad. |
