this is a fantastic book by the historian, Elliot J. Gorn, covering prize-fights in England and America throughout the 19th century. The most recent fighter that is covered is John L. Sullivan.

its a fantastic read...

my only warning is that Elliot J. Gorn IS a historian...so at times, the book's content sways away from boxing information to address historical pressures and issues which Gorn believes attributed to the popularity of prizefighting.

Anyway. Amazing book.
