What is the criteria to be considered a real boxing fan as opposed to being a Pactard or Flomo. It seems if u mention either one of these guys u automatically get labeled. I am a Floyd Mayweather but I consider myself a real boxing fan b/c Floyd isn't the only fighter i watch. He's my favorite right now but by no means does that mean once his done fighting all stop watching boxing. I don't consider myself a boxing historian b/c I have recently be come a die hard over the last 5 or 6 years but I was always a casual fan. Is a real boxing fan supposed to be able to recall facts from the past or just have a good understanding of boxing and follow the sport. I wanna know what u guys think. Intelligent responses please

There's different levels of distinction I think,

Those who name-call against Floyd or Manny may not be strong boxing fans OR they may be boxing fans who are just so obsessed with either fighter, that nothing said in a conversation, or on a message board is going to change their opinion. It's like in politics where a group of people go for one party or another and refuse to change, no matter what the party does. The name-callers who love one fighter over the other, are unlikely to change no matter what the boxers say or do.

But it's not just Manny and Floyd. Ali had supposed "haters and nuthuggers too." Tyson, even after the Holyfield II ear-biting incident had people who still supported him. True "nuthugging" distorts factual assessments of evidence and abilities. An obsessed fan of Mayweather or Pacquaio, can often be very, very objective and factual about other fighters as well. The same with haters of these boxers.

The most popular fighters P4P in boxing. The most popular athletes in all sports are going to have their lovers and haters who's views are so polarized one way or the other that you can't change their behavior.
