Pirog has awful management, which is why he's fought off of American TV after his KO of Haymon hype job Danny Jacobs. From what I've gathered, he has been talking with Daniel Geale for a unification fight in Australia, but that fight was proposed for January and there hasn't been any news since then so I'm thinking it's up in the air. Martinez's team see him as a risk due to his punching power but have the perfect alibi citing his lack of network credibility. That's okay though, if you like Pirog's style then you should check out Gennady Golovkin who I think is one of boxing's best kept secrets.

pirogs management is doing something right...he's still undefeated. it's his promoter or lack thereof that needs to change. he needs an american connection.

never saw geale.

martinez' alibi is weak because his last couple of opponents didn't have 'network credibility' either.

danny jacobs was one of our best amateurs at middleweight. not sure how that makes him a hype job? he was undefeated with a couple of decent wins on his ledger. that doesn't happen by accident or without hard work. haymon has guided some decent careers in boxing lately...so i don't get the whole 'haymon hype' talk unless of course u work for a rival promoter who is jealous that he can leverage to get his fighters on tv on a regular basis without doing it the old fashioned way.

i've been watching golovkin since he was an amateur. he is one of boxing's best kept secrets. i agree.

Pirog's promoter is probably content making big european money and he'll also make less money if he does fight here to re-establish himself. Geale is a big name in Australia and he should try to maybe fight Arthur Abraham when Abraham comes back to 160, or if I were managing him I would DEFINITELY give Jermain Taylor a shot for his title when Taylor makes his comeback fight at the end of the month. Taylor doesn't have to look good for anybody to care, but he'll be seen as enough of a step up for Pirog for people to be intrigued and if Pirog wins then there comes some universal identity.

Jacobs was a great amateur, so was Howard Davis Jr. and Leon Spinks. All had flashes of greatness but were more talk than walk. What has Jacobs done at all in his career besides getting a bogus title shot thanks to his overpowered manager? What has he done at all since the Pirog fight? That was almost two years ago! Same goes for Andre Berto who has peaked and the jury is still out on Gary Russell and Adrian Broner.

whatever the case with pirog...he's an exciting fighter that should be pushed on hbo. if dkp were still relevant today, we would have seen pirog fight a couple times by now. i'll have to look out for geale. i thought taylor and abraham were at 168 now.

as for jacobs...wins over walker and ishe smith were respectable at the time. his record is that of a prospect...nothing more, nothing less. i don't think anyone was claiming him to be anything other than that. he lost to pirog...an undefeated helluva unknown fighter. since then he's had 2 ko wins over mediocre opponents but he was retooling with freddie roach at the wildcard before he suffered an injury that has him sidelined at the moment if i'm not mistaken.

what has anyone done to get any of their title shots these days? titles are abundant and i can point to several title holders that didn't deserve their title shots that are NOT advised by al haymon. i get the hate for him. if i didn't have the power or connections to get things done the way he does...i'd probably be pissed about him and his fighters too. u can't deny that his fighters have talent. andre berto, gary russel, adrian broner, danny jacobs...they were all standout amateurs. they are all very skilled. they all have something else in common....i'll give u a second to figure it out...but while ur thinking about it i'll say this. i don't think any of those guys would be suited for any latin fury or pinoy power cards with arum. i think guys like the peterson brothers are highly skilled and should be further along in their careers...but getting buried on pinoy power cards isn't exactly leading to much for them.

Do you think that there's any chance of it being a Middleweight tournament, in all hopes of somebody facing off with Chavez Jr.?

Highly unlikely. If Rubio beats him next weekend (doubtful), they'll do a rematch. There's also talks of Chavez maybe fighting Antonio Margarito in the Summer being that Texas was willing to license him without an eye exam.

What they SHOULD do is a tournament with Gennedy Golovkin, Dmitry Pirog, Andy Lee and Peter Quillin. Winner of the round robin is a unified titlist and can make the noise necessary to get a fight with Sergio Martinez, as the person who actually wins this tournament will be deemed far too dangerous for Chavez.

A Margarito match would be good, in my opinion. It would definitely test Chevez, in a sense. That mini tournament that you put out there wouldn't be a bad idea, and its definitely beneficail to those guys, especially Quillin (who needs more exposure) and Pirog (who just needs competent management).
