Would anyone be interested in seeing Floyd and Cotto Cotto does look strong and he could give May some fits. If the Pac fight does not fall through this could be a match up that generates interest

Thats why I said "borderline" sucker punch...technically it wasnt but since one of the suckiest refs in the sport Joe Cortez did a terrible job of getting the action started again I thought it was mostly on hime but the 2 piece Floyd landed was little bit bullshit.

That being said so was the headbutt that Ortiz gave him so I guess one deserves the other.

To get back to the Cotto-Mayweather thing...People are saying Cotto gets hit too much...maybe...they are saying he tires late...maybe....but that is against pressure fighters! Mayweather isnt a pressure fighter...he is a marksman...the best defender/counter-puncher in the sport....I dont see Cotto breaking down against him...seems to me Cotto is getting disrespected on this thread. I know Mayweather is the best but that being said he hasnt fought ANYONE as well rounded as Cotto is since hitting welterweight.

How can people think Pacquiao would give Floyd a good fight but Cotto wont?? I see Floyd beating Pacquiao way easier because styles make fights....Pacquiao is one dimensional Cotto is not....Pacquiao doesnt have a jab and only really has a left hand...Cotto can hit hard with both hands and has a good jab....Cotto can also go to the body better....and I dont wanna hear about Pacquiao beat Cotto because styles make fights.

Mayweather beats Cotto but I just cant see any scenario where he totally dominates him....Now true Cotto is my favorite fighter but even if he wasnt stylistically I would still say he gives Mayweather a tough fight.

I agree, people are underestimating Cotto as a fighter. He has not amazing, but good counter-punching ability. Good offense, okay jab, knows how to pressure, mix it up and set up combinations. I don't think his speed would give Floyd problems. He doesn't fight backwards as amazing as fighters like Mayweather and Marquez (for some reason he just about neglected to fight backwards against Pacquiao). Takes punches okay, but can be stumbled by a good shot. I think one of the biggest things about Cotto's style that would give Floyd trouble is that Cotto likes to keep his head low and his guard up. It makes it more difficult for Floyd to potshot his way to victory. Like when he fought Oscar, Floyd was forced to throw ineffective combinations to not give the fight to Oscar for lack of activity. However not only does Oscar keep his hands up, hes a very tough person to hurt, so it wouldn't be exactly like the DLH fight. As a matter of fact... I wouldn't be surprised if Floyd won just about every round if they fought, but the thing is that he would barely win like half of those rounds.

As far as the "sucker" punch, I say an eye for an eye. Ortiz knew full and darn well what he did was dead WRONG. I thought May would task him the rest of the fight. Cortez needs to retire because I am still salty of how he ref the Hatton and May fight. Anyway, I think the punches were justified. May saw an opening and put that cat to bed plus Ortiz could of gotten up.

I said from the start of this thread I thought Cotto could give May issues, his height and reach plus he has good boxing skills. I think this fight would look something like Diego Corrales that is, if Diego actually would of fougth that night. I think would win either 7-5 or 8-4

It would be nothing like the Corrales fight. Corrales couldn't really do anything in the fight because he was too slow on his feet to catch Mayweather. Plus had no defense and no jab.

I respectfully disagree. I think Floyd would slow him down. Cotto would be hesitate to throw punches because of the counter punching. I just feel Cotto would be a standing target. His head movement is so so, I think Cotto may have good moments in the early rounds but then May would just pick him apart. I think Cotto would have to out box Mayeather which isn't going to happen. It will end up like Corrales. I said 7-5 earlier I take that back 9-3. It would still be a great fight.

That is plain crazy to think Cotto would get dominated like Corrales did....Corrales (R.I.P) didnt do a damn thing...Cotto gives Floyd a waaaaaaaaay better fight than that....like I said Cotto would be the most well rounded fighter Floyd has fought.

Sigh...I would just leave this one alone Street. First she had it 7-5 (which is likely), and now it suddenly changed to 9-3 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dntknw.gif) It's exhausting and pointless to even try to make a valid point when debating with a Floyd nuthu...well...you know the rest (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

As far as the Corrales fight, Im not sure which way to lean towards. I though it may have had something to do with the weight issue (not sure Chico could drop to 130 comfortably at the time, the fact that Floyd was quick as a rattlesnake, the pending domestic assault case against him...or a combination of all 3?

Let me justify my 9-3 score and after looking at some of Cotto'sold fights is why I swithced to 9-3, now 7-5 would probably be more accurate. Cotto has been in MANY wars and the wear and tear on his body I just see it like this

Watching Cotto's old fights I notice two things: 1. his defense is just okay, he leaves that head wide open which is ano against any good accurate puncher 2. He tends to tire. So I see this match like Corrales, he will put up a good fight the first three heck 4 rounds and then it is all down hill. What I will say is Cotto has heart and he will not quit but I do not see Cotto in the mid and late rounds Floyd too many fits. I am not a nuthugger. Floyd is one of my favorite fighters but there are others on the list.
