From what I've read, Main Events Promotions is working/has worked out a mainstream television deal...guess it all came down to the budget for the bouts. I hope you're sure about America being mostly Hispanic (you should provide sources with your posts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ) Mayweather/Pacquiao on network television? Please tell me you're kidding (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Please!

Im sure that everybody involved (all the way down to the camera men) have added up and revised how much their checks were gonna be for working this event for the last 2 years (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) PPV is DEFINITELY gonna get that Pacquiao/Mayweather money...no way in hell they lose that kind of money to mainstream television.

Go to the US Census.gov and will break it down to you the only part about their figures is that a lot of non documented citizens did not take part in the census. Trust in the next 20 years American wil be Americana. Mainstream television can get more sponsers and they can generate money faster. With the banks and advertisement for this fight, you can afford to have a heavy undercard and the main event would just make the thing pop. Mainstream will generate more money plus Arum wouldn't be able push all of the networks heavy hitters around. It could happen.

Its obvious that there's more money in doing it the PPV way, and/or there's something thats gonna either cost too much or take away too much, for them to do it on national television. Just like Arum chooses to keep all of his fights in house, Im sure that the boxing industry is doing the same. Maybe the money will have to be split too many ways if its done on national television.

Really, the point is, its hard to gauge how many ads need to be bought for a fight card on network tv. Just because fights are scheduled for an x amount of rounds, doesn't mean that they last that long. So, what will happen if a card ends entirely too early and there's a bunch of time left? Promoters would have to pay for those ads to run, even if there's no boxing still on.

Look at PPV, the card is from 8PM-2AM...and what do you see after the card is over...yep, just a screen with a logo and some 80's porn music playing in the background...Im sure that doesn't cost much, compared to Macy's, Wal-Mart, Subway, etc. commercials running, which costs a shitload. You have to look at how much it costs for a few mins of air-time, and that should give you an idea of how much those commercials cost to run.

I wholly agree with that statement. Just look at the Superbowl, those teams have to play all 4 quarters. Even if the game was a suck feast those ads pay for itself. Good post

I have no interest in watching Cotto on his bike. Let him fight Devon Alexander at 147.

We saw enough of that shit last weekend! The Cotto and MSG Love Story ended safely and happily...he got his "revenge", we get to see his fight soft touches until he hangs 'em up. I would hate to see the wife and kids crying at ringside...not cool...so no more fast opponents for the Gentle Rican!

It all depends on whether or not he decides to stay at TR or go to GBP.
