I think the key point is that Cotto needs all the speed he can get, to hit someone as elusive as Floyd. He knows he'll get hit a lot in this fight. That can't be helped. What CAN be helped is the possibility that he might land an awkward shot or get some good body work in. Both would require a speed enhancement, which would come by way of the 8 ounce gloves.

Cotto prefers fighting with 8 oz gloves, so this isn't the "concession" that people are making it out to be.

Also, have you guys even noticed Floyd's exact wording? "We asked for 8 ounce gloves...if we don't get it, then we'll fight with the tens..."

Doesn't exactly sound like any kind of "MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY" type deal.

Exactly! If they dont grant him 8 oz gloves, then he'll be professional and follow through with the fight...just expect him to talk about how unfair it was, after the fight or maybe in his next presser.

i'll say this....ortiz rocked mayweather before that headbutt and wasn't able to capitalize on it.

Say what!? Ortiz rocked Mayweather? Um...ok. I guess you can say it but c'mon now...

Multiple guys have "rocked" Mayweather over the years, and Cotto probably will too. But like the rest of them, Cotto will lose.

I just wish Cotto utilized his punches better, when his opponent's back was against the ropes. I keep referring back to the Clottey fight as well as the Pacquiao fight, forgive me.

Those were two dangerous guys that he was in there with, and he could do was back up with that "Oh shit, now what?" look on his face, after he failed to hurt the guy against the ropes.

I feel like Cotto has lost a lot of his "killer instinct" since leaving 140. Maybe it's just that he looks like less of a beast above 140. Or maybe it's the beatings he's taken above 140 that have changed his style. Not really sure what it is.

Mosely did rock him but I think "rocked", especially in the Ortiz fight, is a bit out there. I mean Ortiz didn't land much at all.

Let me guess, Cotto will land just as much on Floyd, as he did against Pacquiao and Clottey when he had their backs against the ropes? All I remember is Cotto throwing wide shots that were getting blocked, and his failure to use an uppercut against a stationary opponent with their backs against the ropes. I'll hold my breath for this one...

+1

Im looking at how Cotto was able to land against Margarito in the first fight when they had 8 oz gloves on, but he was still getting hit. Maybe it's because he couldn't hurt Margarito. In this fight, Cotto will be trying to land against a guy who's hard to be hit, and also has the speed and accuracy to hit Miguel whenever he pleases.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) we'll see what happens. i don't think it's going to be a blow out. mayweather should win though.

check 3:02 and 5:08 for the slow mo replay. ortiz landed a clean right hook that had mayweather reeling.

I wouldn't say rocked, I'd say they got his attention, Mosleys really the only one that seemed to have him stunned, but he still reacted, tied Mosley up and got out of it, I still think it was fixed lol.
