lol I was staring at the screen confused Floyd did seem off, I mean I can't explain it really... I truly feel Floyd is done, he looked off in the Ortiz fight as well (Quick edit, he (Floyd) has the skill to fight and outbox anyone and win, but he has lost a step, it could be father time and the weight playing a huge factor.) Floyd is trying to please the fans with the toe to toe, and going up in weight but honestly he seemed sloppy and lost at times in the fight I was like WTF...go back at rd. 12 he had Cotto done, but seemed afraid or idk he just seemed happy to finish the fight. He came out and saw Cotto was well trained and stronger and faster then he (Floyd) thought he would be and it just looked like what's going on Floyd's corner seemed confused as well it was blood all over his face and they were not cleaning it well, Roger's advice was weird I was confused...Someone who was watching made a pretty good point Maybe Floyd was trying to sell the fight as tough, getting bloodied up and allowing himself to be hit against the ropes.... But again who knows? honestly who knows? look back at my old post, I said he seemed old in the Ortiz fight....idk I do know that Manny is still an easier fight Why do you think Floyd is done? The man just gave one of his best performances in his career and you're criticizing him! Floyd did a lot of things he used to when he was younger! He boxed sometimes, he went toe to toe sometimes, he threw lots of combinations, and even though he fought most of the time in the pocket he used his legs a lot, something i haven't seen him doing since he fought Marquez! I remember after the Ortiz some people were saying Floyd's legs were old because he wasn't moving a lot, but in this fight he proved he still can use his legs! I have to be honest, I didn't think Cotto was going to make it to the final round, so i have to take my hat off to him! Cotto fought a very good fight and i think his new trainer did make a difference because Cotto didn't show too many stamina issues like he did in the past! Some people are comparing Floyd's and Manny's performance against Cotto but i don't really get the point! It's true Manny knocked Cotto out and Floyd didn't, but we can't forget it took Manny 12 rounds to Knock a drained Cotto out, while Floyd fought Cotto at 154, coming in at 147! I don't know how much did Cotto rehydrate on fight night but he definetely was heavier than 154 ibs while Floyd instead of putting some weight lost 3 ibs! Floyd could have knocked Cotto out and he was indeed hit more often than we're used to see, but his performance was still great and he showed us once his versatility as a fighter! |

No, you're not the only one. At the weigh-in the day before, Floyd seemed to have more "energy" than usual, anxious if you will. I had never seen him like that. I think it showed in his fight, mainly b/c he was winded early (when was the last time you saw an opponent off his stool earlier than Floyd in b/t rounds?). Now, Miguel making this a rough fight and pounding to the body, surely didn't help, but Floyd wasn't as elusive as he should've been. We have to give credit to Cotto in every way possible. He came to fight and stuck to his script. HOWEVER, did you notice the "Showtime, Live at the Apollo" Sandman back pedal he used at the end of rounds? He was TIRED and Floyd didn't capitalize. That let me know, Floyd's fuel wasn't at the usual "Money" capacity. That being said, great freak'n fight. Cotto, in baseball terms, is what you call a "loud out". You get him out, but it's NEVER easy and scares the bajezzus outta you in the process. floyd is NOT a come forward aggressive fighter. anytime he's done this in the past against someone with skill (corley, judah) he's paid. i thought cotto got the best of him the few times he did give floyd movement...or as u call it...the "sandman back pedal." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) anyone notice floyd gave cotto way more movement than he's given anyone in a while? |

Was Cotto like Castillo was in the first fight against Floyd? I know, second fight was controversial because I actually thought neither did shit and had it a 6-6 draw, but 7-5 Floyd was probably better. I always hated Floyd as a person, but it sounds like this performance still solidifies his ability to move up in weight like that, and look brilliant in a war type situation. This is Floyd's first war type fight since Castillo I, and everyone said it was very entertaining.
I don't think there is anyone with the skills to beat Floyd. I talked to one guy who had it 6-5-1 for Cotto, but I think he was watching on a bad stream and said tons of rounds were hard to score. Once guy from BBC had Cotto winning. Many press reports said scores were too wide. But I think Ben had it 118-110 for Floyd like one of the judges. Two had it 117-111, Floyd, so good consistency and uniformity in judging there. Most reports were anywhere from 117-111 Floyd to 115-113 Floyd. Did Floyd accept a post-fight interview? Jack |

i would love to see cotto vs canelo i wouldn't. i think canelo will knock him out. he's too big and strong for cotto and has really good speed. i think that's a cash out fight for floyd and cotto and both should steer clear of him until they're ready to hang em up. |

Way to tarnage your image even more! Bringing out Bieber! Man Justin Bieber looks like a freakin' lesbian...his people need to bring that to his attention. C' are you watching the same fight as me ? 11th to Floyd. Cotto needs to KO him on my scorecards. I will have to watch the fight again, because I was extremely drunk and distracted last night. All I saw was Floyd looking like Devon Alexander in a few spots of the fights when he was getting hit clean, bleeding, and shaking his head. Just gave me glimpses of Devon, minus the bouncing and grunting. Perhaps the same person who should ban themselves from any boxing site ever created... Exactly! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) PS: I can be bit long-winded when I post, so when you see nonsense one-liners from me on fight night, then chances are...Im inebriated. Jack i gave cotto 4 rounds but u could make the argument that he won 5. i don't think anyone has ever hit floyd so clean as many times as cotto did last night. floyd gave cotto plenty of respect and plenty of movement. i think it was a clear cut win for floyd...but he really had to work for it. i'll have to watch it again....but i don't believe cotto did enough to win. the commentators and punch stat seemed very biased in favor of floyd in the beginning. floyd looked brilliant in spots....and uncomfortable in spots. it was exactly the fight expected minus the cotto upset. cotto made quite a few mistakes and floyd was on point with making him pay immediately. great fight. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Yeah, I'm gonna rewatch the fight as well. Not because I am unsure of my scoring, but because it was so great! But I am still a little bit dissapointed by Cotto's behavior after the fight. I was looking forward to see what he has to say about Floyd. Because, although Floyd said Cotto is the toughest competitor he has ever faced, I have the feeling that Cotto was the one who ended up with a bigger respect for the fighter he faced. Am I the only one who thought bringing J' Biebs was a brilliant idea? Really..Twice the hate, double the fun !! It was a great move on Floyd's part and it shows how long his fingers are in the showbizz. I almost believe he would be able to bring Obama to walk him to the ring (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) However, seeing Bieber totally lost and awkward in the ring was priceless (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) This post has been edited by mitukczuk: May 6 2012, 12:32 PM |

Professor....you're correct; Cotto did do that at times to switch it up...however, did you notice he did it at times when he had Floyd in the corners/ropes laying on him and then all of sudden...he started Sandman'n....Cotto does that in his fights to conserve energy. As far as the movement, true story. Hadn't seen it in a minute and if I'm being honest, I was watching the fight thinking, "Bruh, use your legs, tire him out and then step on the gas in rounds 10-12." I'm tellin' you, Floyd was anxious for this fight...as I saw him "mouth breathing" by round 3 or 4. |

Of course he was going to say that Cotto was his toughest fight, anybody that's supposed to look flawless in the ring, but got hit more than usual, is going to say that. How was Cotto the one who had more respect for his opponent, when he drew blood from Mayweather and had viewers looking at him in a different fashion because of it? Surely Floyd didn't bust his own nose and mouth, did he? |
