Not sure if there's a thread already for this or not but I just want to say a quick R.I.P. to Leroy Nieman. His pieces, especially his boxing stuff, were some of the most phenomenal artwork I've ever seen...especially in sports. I STILL want to get my hands on that Rocky picture with him and Apollo Creed. Much like Bert Sugar, his brilliance brought the sport to life for me. Bert with his words and style, Nieman with his bold paintings and trademark mustahce. I didn't know much about him personally but his artwork always brought a smile to my face. As someone who LOVES artwork, especially stuff that breaks the mold, I'm very appreciative of this man's work.
