What other does he have at this point, the networks will pay for the Berto fight and a rematch with Lopez. Ortiz has 9 lives in the boxing world. Only fighter with 9 lives in my opinion is Zab. I can't think about a potential rematch with Berto until he goes before the commission on that positive test stuff. But the networks would pay for both rematches. But Ortiz and his camp have stated numerous times that they won't give Berto a rematch, they might have a different opinion now but that fight is still in doubt. I'd love to see a rematch between he and Lopez. It was a good scrap |

Great fights tonight! And who said boxing is dead? Not after those fights!!!
It sucks for Ortiz though. It's like he's almost always got a half tank of gas and heart, The tank goes to "E" around the mid to late portions of the fight and he quits when the chips are down. He may be done as a top contender. Berto won't be able to fight soon IMO, because of the PED issues. Those guys threw fucking boms! I had Ortiz something like 5-3-1. Yes an EVEN first round. Judges should give more even rounds. The two judges had fair cards at the stoppage in Lopez-Ortiz. The third judge had it too wide for Ortiz. The broken jaw was bad. But fighters have fought with broken hands. Ali fought Norton with a broken jaw. Jack |

I have to say it, "Damaged Goods". I've heard that noone is the same after facing Mayweather. Take no credit away from Lopez, hell no.. but maybe, just maybe.. that Mayweather 2-piece left a perma dent in Ortiz's jaw, and Lopez put the finishing touches on it.
Damn good fights, this is what boxing is all about, and I can't wait to watch Lopez again. Helluva gutcheck for Ortiz, wonder what the future holds for him, now that his jaw will need to heal, maybe just maybe, we can still get a fight with him and Berto later. I personally thought if Ortiz would have went to Lopez's body a little more after round 2 he would have pulled it out, because he seemed to be hurting him on the ropes... but never the less.. he got caught, cracked, and broken. Good shit Lopez, very good shit! This post has been edited by haqtiq: Jun 24 2012, 06:52 AM |

Maybe...probably, but oddly, I like Matthyese better than Maidaina, who has beaten Matthyese a couple o' times in the amateurs or whatnot. I think he'd fare better than Maidana at that weight. That being said, you're probably right. Cool, I'd also pick Matthyse over Maidana. Proper match up either way. There are so many good matches that can be made in boxing. Good stuff! |

i think it was calculated by ortiz. he could have gone on but he knew if he would have won he wouldn't be able to fight canelo anyway with a broken jaw. I had one before, and the pain is intense and i wasn't even get hit on it after it broke lol. recovery sucks as well. No need to bad mouth him. he fought a hell of a fight against a guy who wasn't going to be denied. i didn't want to watch him against canelo anyway. canelo needs to pick on someone his own size lol. Can't wait for the rematch.

Floyd fought and dominated a fight with two broken hands. A broken jaw aint no joke, but you were that far in the fight, and you were ahead, and you just quit. Disgrace. your jaw is like the second hardest bone to break in your entire body. These guys are warriors, I saw two great fights tonight neither was a disgrace. And its kind of ironic how people call that a disgrace when ortiz quit because of a broken bone while soto quit on the stool too without any broken bones or cuts that we know of. |
