On Tuesday in Mexico City, WBC President Jose Sulaiman presented a champion’s belt to world featherweight champion Abner Mares after his victory against reigning titleholder champion Daniel Ponce De Leon.

“I have really wanted to fight in my country, for my people and now I don’t care so much about the money. I want to fight the best and I am ready to face Guillermo Rigondeaux among others,” stated Mares.

I'm picking Rigo by easy UD.

arum really doesn't give a fuck about rigondeaux. i don't think nonito wants to rematch anytime soon. i hope they make this match!

this is some ray leonard vs roberto duran type shit!!! it needs to happen!!!

it's the biggest fight in boxing at the moment.

Totally agree

name 2 wins for any other fighter that would trump donaire and mares.

i can't think of any at the moment.

Maybe if Floyd fought martinez and ward before the year ends lol

I think Mares would put up a way better fight then Nonito did but Rigo would take him on points...this sucks because the likely hood of this happening is next to none

Definitely I could see mares seriously pressuring rigo and making it ugly. Moreno and agbeko prepared him for this, he can definitely do better then donaire
