With the success of "The One" GB and Showtime are flying high (not higher than Oscar...sorry). GB is a big part of Showtime boxing. It has been obvious for years that Richard Schaefer has been the one running GB and he is doing a hell of a job. Since Oscar's recent visit to rehab, it seems that GB could survive without him. Would dismissing Oscar from his GB duties be a major blow to GB? Does Oscar appearances add to promotion or is he a distraction? In this last promotion of "The One" Oscar went a little of overtop he even looked high at Canelo's media day workout. Question is: should GB dismiss Oscar and could it still be successful with Oscar in a very limited role? or do they need Oscar to continue to sell their brand?

Does anyone think Oscar not being at the fight hurt Canelo's psyche?

They need Oscar. They need a way to touch those Hispanic fans (especially the ones that wear skirts...dang, that could be Oscar, too.). Like Professor mentioned, Schaefer is running it, but Oscar is the "face" of that brand. Would it crumble w/o him? No. Would it still be successful? Yes. Would it be better w/ Oscar in and around the affairs? Definitely. As much as I loathe DLH, he's instrumental in certain aspects of that company's success. I mean, who else are they going to get to "dupe" Mexican fans against Floyd? LOL. Seriously, he's that bridge b/t "mainstream" boxing and Mexican/Hispanic fans. As terrible as his prognostications are, many of that demographic listen to him. Say what you will, HE was as much as ANYONE, the reason this recent PPV did so well. Even though his addiction struggles have been embarrassing, it's not like he's killing business...a la The Bobfather over there at Top "Shank". No, he's helping GBP make a killing in THE business.

To me, GBP is McDonald's and Oscar is Ronald....can you imagine them severing ties?

This

I always see schaeffer and other guys doing things, Oscar pretty much just the face. Plus they have bhop who in his own right is a pretty smart dude. I think Oscar feels safe leaving the company in their hands for his absence

Oscar ain't going nowhere, wish a muthafucka would try to dismiss me from something with my name on it. Schaefer is the dude who everybody has to deal with, we all k ow he running the shit but Oscar serves his purpose. I think he should maybe take a step back for a while and get himself together. Hopkins can step in a bit more and Schaefer is always on point. He needs to get his demons in check

Chi, if you where a major holder in GB productions would you really want Oscar around. You just said that Hopkins was a great stand in and Schaefer is the fucking man. So what purpose does Oscar serve beside giving the blue print to beat Mayweather to his fighters?
