Full Version: When Was Boxing's Head-Butt Rule First Applied?

This is what I recall researching a few years ago. But I could not find the answer.

My guess would be sometime in the early 80's. Before that, it didn't matter if a fighter got cut from a head-butt or a punch. In the old days, if a fight had to be stopped because of a cut, it made no difference what caused the cut. The stricken boxer was a TKO loser.

When did head-butt rules first come into effect?
