An overmatched Vargas was beaten 8-4 vs. Roy Jones Jr. on all 3 scorecards. He was never a super-middleweight.

Is Vargas a HOFer?

Big Fights:

In his first fight, he beat Cyrus "Super" Virus to win the Junior-Middleweight Title.

He drew with Cyrus "Super" Virus in the rematch.

His first loss came vs. "Touch Of Sleep". It was a close fight.

After losing to TOS, Vargas career went downhill. He drew twice with Luther Louis (Fights he should have WON). Lost to the current Jnr. Middleweight Champion, Travis Simms. Lost to Richard Johnson in a fight he should have won.

Vargas resurrected his career by beating a top fighter Berk who is (13-1-0).

Vargas would then go on to upset Prince Malik Abu Busson for the Middleweight title...becoming a 2-divison champion.

Vargas would be stopped by Manuel Cortez in 10 in his first defense.

After beating 3 bums, all by decision, Vargas would rematch Manuel Cortez and again would be stopped.

Vargas last fight came against Roy Jones Jr. He lost a UD.

Tough call.

Question is do only the greats like TOS and Deep Freeze deserve to get into the HOF?

Id said no, so I say yes Vargas is a Hall of Famer. Hes done a lot (although that Berk fight was a robbery) and was here since the beginning. Especially beating Super at 154 is a great accomplishment.
