Breaking News : Gamboa and Here We Go Enter Negotiations

This just in, 3 Division World Champion and reigning 2-Time Featherweight Champion Of The World, Top P4P Fighter, the Undefeated Yuriorkis "Face of Arena" Gamboa (53-0-0 30KOs) has entered negotiations for the super fight his career has been waiting for, against 2 Division World Champion Hall Of Famer, Former #1 Pound For Pound Fighter in the World and universally regarded as the greatest Bantamweight of all time, Virtually Undefeated, CyruS "Here We Go" ViruS (27-3-3 19KOs)

Gamboa although regarded as a great fighter and probably the #1 pound for pound fighter in the sport has faced inadequate competition, his biggest wins coming against the two hall of fame strawweights moving up Fernando "Cochulito" Montiel and 6 Division World Champion CyruS "No Fear" ViruS. Gamboa won his fight with Montiel via the scores of 116-112 x2, 115-114 while in the last fight No Fear, Gamboa edged him out via the scores of 116-113, 117-114, 116-115. Gamboa has been in need of a career defining super fight for quite sometime, if these negotiations are successful, he will have the biggest fight of his career.

Here We Go has not fought since January 13, 2008 where he regained the Undisputed Bantamweight Titles from Hall Of Famer Z Gorres via Majority Decision in the biggest little man rematch super fight in history.

I'd like to hear the fans thoughts on these negotiations so drop your thoughts in our mailbag because we don't make fake mail for our bags.

This would be the biggest fight ever to grace fighthype webl in the lower weight classes. It's a mouth watering prospect, the sort of fight that the whole world would want to see.

Question is - Would it be at featherweight or is HWG too small to compete at 126?

Its a big coup for TOS as a promoter if he can get this one sorted.

I want to see this happen so it'll be interesting watching how the negotiations pan out.
BigG
Dont do it Cyrus. Here We go is too small.

Ahmet Oener:

"We wont comment on anything before its time to make it official, but believe me, our promoting team is gonna be doing some huge things in the future and we will continue to prove that Yuriorkis Gamboa is the P4P best fighter in the world."
Maxy
I see there has been no further developments for this fight. Gamboa is still waiting for an opponent so there isn't anything standing in the way.

Has HWG changed his mind?

Word on the street is that HWG never intended to fight Gamboa. He just stuck the idea out there so that people would talk about him again.
CyruS
HWG was trying to fight Gamboa in the beginning of the year but Gamboa's people didn't want the fight back then. HWG doesn't need attention, Gamboa's people came to HWG.

Gamboa-HWG Contract Details Revealed!

Fighthype brings you the exclusive details to the Gamboa-HWG agreement!

The fight is to take place at 122 pounds (Gamboa drops a weight-class while HWG moves up a weight-class) HWG has a rematch clause in his favor only. Herman Ngoudjo will be transferred to either the 36 Chambers Of Death or Only Built 4 TOS gym. The fight will only take place if/when Gamboa can win the World Jr. Featherweight Championship from the winner of Doner Rakhmatullaev-Slanger Jr. World Title Fight. Gamboa-HWG is tentatively scheduled to take place on the last day of August, August 31, 2008.

Of course there is always a chance the winner Rakhmatullaev-Slanger Jr. could spoil the party and upset Gamboa....

Stay tuned!

Thoughts?

I don't know for certain but I reckon Gamboa would be severely weakened at 122. His people are going to want the fight but only if he can box without being weight drained.

Like I say, I can't speak for his people but all the cards are in HWG's favour and the question is, does Gamboa really need to take such a risk?

Sources told fighthype.com that Gamboa has been training with a new fitness coach in order to get his body comfortable to a lower weight. Gamboa who has already been a 122 pound world champion and also fought in lower weight classes as an amateur had lately been thought of a possible future lightweight what has opened the door for a lot of critics who dont believe he can still be at his best at 122.
The Arena SHO gym, Ahmet Oener and Team Gamboa are not willing to talk about any of that publicly. As both Rakhmatullaev and especially Slanger are vicious body punchers no fighter should ever step into the ring with them weight drained.

BREAKING NEWS : Gamboa-HWG Called OFF!

Sources close to Here We Go's camp have told Fighthype that the proposed Jr. Featherweight Super Fight between Gamboa and Here We Go has been called off following Gamboa's first career loss to Austin Harris at Featherweight for the Featherweight title. Sources say HWG was at his home with various friends watching the fight on HBO and was said to be disappointed with Gamboa and the fight but gave Harris his props for his accomplishment.

With Gamboa's loss not only does Gamboa lose the World Featherweight Championship, his top P4P ranking but also the biggest fight of his career with Hall Of Fame, Bantamweight Legend Here We Go.

It's in our opinion that Gamboa has paid the ultimate price for overlooking his opponent for the biggest fight of his career.

More news at it arrives.
