STEVENSKI
Nah she is English. We don't talk about her at home after I was found in a compromising position surrounded by her pictures. I think it is best i don't tell any more as it is quite embarrasing.

Damn DJ....too much information! laugh.gif

Actually though I have won a ton of Sarah McLachlan stuff....I won tickets to see her in a tiny little club, just her and her piano....the only way you could get in was to win them on the radio and the club only held maybe 200 people or so.....it was really cool. It was called the first annual Acoustic Christmas.....on that same bill was Freddy Johnston, Simple Minds and the Go-Go's......both of which flat out said they could not do "acoustic" anything and just busted out the classic 80s stuff.

I was about 20 ft away from Sarah....you could give her flowers if you brought some...I was simply afraid that had I reached to give her the flowers I would have accidentally skull fu#ked her on stage.

I also a won an autographed copy of The Freedom Sessions too.

I know this is not going to win me any "wow...that's cool" points...

But I actually used to work with the Grandfather of the Keyboard player for Maroon 5.

For the longest time I never knew it though. The guy would always tell me about his grandson and how he gets to travel and play music....one day he was telling me that his grandson was going to play on the Music awards....and I finally asked the name of the band....lol

The dude is from the town over from where I live...but he is a lot younger than I am...so I never knew him.
Al Hata

My Gulity pleasure music is Nelly(the R&B singer) and 80s Madonna. The windows are rolled up and the music is turned down but I enjoy it.

You should have asked for tickets.

Madonna - Holiday/Dress you up and I like more of her stuff
Real McCoy - Another Night/Automatic lover
Spandau Ballet - Gold/To a long story short
Benny Mardones - Into the night
Black Box - Ride on time
Blondie - Heart of glass
Boney M - Daddy cool/Sunny

"If I could fly...I'd pick yooooooou up!!"

Fitz, you're not alone. I've always loved that song. I think Robert Tepper, dude that wrote "No Easy Way Out" from Rocky 4 co-wrote it. So you could actually argue the song is almost kinda tough in its own way.

What's wrong with Blondie? No guilt there at all. "Hanging on the Telephone" still rocks with the best of them.

I've always liked "Genie in a Bottle" and want to have sex with Christna Aguilera. I guess that's my GP.

I have been listening to CAKE lately. That and Gwar, because they make me laugh.

Just caught the last few minutes of this movie "Music and Lyrics" last night on cable with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. The hit that Hugh Grant's character had in the 80's "Pop goes my heart" was kinda catchy. Funny video that they made for it too. I think that's a guilty pleasure of mine now.

And I thought of a couple more: "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles & "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler

Also, if loving Duran Duran is wrong, I don't want to be right.

I just wrote a huge blog on DD. I was watching Biography the other day and they were doing DD....I was curious to see how they treated their later releases....and just as I thought they would....they just about ignored them.

Duran Duran's later efforts are spectacular. Many fans chose not to even give them a chance because they are too stuck on those 80's hits....and anything that strays away from that sound....they have no use for.

Duran Duran (The Wedding Album)
Medazziland
Pop Trash
Astronaut (to a lesser degree)

Are ALL awesome albums.....which all sold terrible here in the states.

Meddazaland was the ONLY DD album to only be released in America only. They followed it up with PopTrash which continued that sound....songs like None of the Above, Icon, Playing with Uranium and Mars meets Venus are so far removed from the stuff they did in the 80's.

Meddazaland is over 11 years old and still sounds fresh today.

AVOID "Red Carpet Massacre".....last years AWFUL album in which they took the trendy route of getting Timbaland to produce the record......it sounds like total shit!

They had a song from Pop Trash I really liked. I think it was called "Starting to Remember" maybe? It was real mellow and smooth. Track five on the CD if I recall right.

Medazziland...eh. I only heard it once and wasn't impressed, though I do like "Electric Barbarella" a lot on their greatest hits. Hey, did you know Duran Duran actually got their name from that mov... j/k.

Astronaut I wasn't too into either. At that point I felt like they were putting out albums just to support their tour. I do like that song "Nice" a lot though.

I've seen Duran Duran live around 5-6 times. They were the first concert I ever went to, the Seven and the Ragged Tiger tour in 1984. I saw their first full reunion show with all five of them back at Golden Gate Park in 2003. I knew when they opened with "Friends of Mine" it was going to be great. Anyway, they have ALWAYS put on a good show. You can tell they still really love doing what they do. Complete opposite of the Police, who I saw two summers ago. They looked like they were there solely for the money and basically just did a by the book set of all their biggest hits.

I've only seen them live once....but they were GREAT! They don't always hit Houston.

I've heard that MANY, MANY times in regard to those tours from the Police.....that's a shame.

Damn, i got a ton of guilty pleasures, if you want to call them that. Im really into R&B music old and new. Ever since I was in 7th grade my favorite singer has been R. Kelly. I listen to New Edition, Keith Sweat, Babyface, Usher, and all sorts of other artists. I guess some of my favorite songs are Can You Stand The Rain by NE, I Wish by R Kelly, and Heaven Sent by Keyshia Cole.
