Darchinyan TKO 11 in a very good fight:

I think that as long as DarCHINyan's Chin does not let him down he will win this fight, which will consist of several heated exchanges. Arce doesn't go down without a fight, but most of the time does not win his big fights. I don't expect the beat-down that we saw Vic establish in the Mijares. However, Darchinyan stops Arce late.

I see an exciting fight for as long as it lasts. Unfortunately, Arce is too face-first to withstand the exchanges.

Look for the most recent version of Hagler-Hearns that we've seen in a while...high action, early stoppage.

Vic TKO 5
STEVENSKI
Vic by brutal brutal career ending stoppage. This is the type of fight where Arce may need serious medical attention afterwards.

I'm not sure if everyone is drinking the Vic Kool-Aid or if this more where we think Arce is at at this stage of his career.

Vic is certainly a deserved favorite but I can't get the image of him being KTFO out of my head. He's looked great recently and if he show the defensive improvements from the Mijares fight he should win easily.

But if he tries to slug with Arce, I give Jorge a very good chance.

Regardless, I think this is gonna be a hell of a fight for as long as it last.

Vic by a Brutal one sided beating...

I then expect Vic to get his revenge by KNOCKING OUT Donaire.

dirol.gif Vic the Mouth should handle Arce ....he needs to do it early & convincingly . Neither one of these fighters is a defensive genius, Vic's defense is his offense ... if Arce trys to sit in the pocket & trade, he will pay bigtime . Donaire looked to time Darchinyans poor defense & had the power to put him on queer-street ... Donaire fought intelligently w/ the benefit of Glenns' experience, ... Arce will fight w/ his heart & guts because all of Mexico will be watching, especially after the humiliating defeat of the Tornado . I seriously doubt if you will see Vic matched against the Filipino Flash again ... he might want it but his management knows that a second loss to Donaire (especially by KO) would mean a serious decrease in future paychecks . Vic wins alot of fights before they start (like Tyson did) ... he does not have that advantage w/ Donaire . The Filipino-Flash would have Freddie in his corner for the rematch no-doubt ...The Flash by early KO ... deja-vu dirol.gif

I have been drinking Vic's Cottee's cordial for years. Those that know me know I have been riding him since the 200 Olympics.

...I just tubed Arces' last two fights w/ El Torito & El Chino .... he throws alot of looping upper-cuts w/ both hands & thats just not gonna work, El Traviesos' (the Troublemaker) best chance is to box & the Bull proved he can handle boxers, I was at the Waterfront Casino (my home away from home) in Lahug, Cebu when he fought Z "the Dream" Gorres to a draw last February (little home cookin' there from 2 local judges) & Mijares is a powder-puff boxer also (34 KO%) ...easy to see why the casino's are holding the Raging Bull @ -400 .... a loss to Arce would truly be devastating for Vics' career .... I said that about TT also blush.gif

I'm surprised by everyone picking Vic in this poll.

At the moment, 8 picked Vic by KO/TKO and only 1 for Arce. I know I picked Vic to stop him as well, but I figure that Arce is a pretty live underdog in there and just surprised there isn't more picking him.
Probably has something to do with how much of a bad man Vic is, lol. Looking forward to this one.

Thats what I'm saying. Vic is the favorite for a reason but he isn't unbeatable. And BTW he won't dominate Donaire in a rematch. The first fight wasn't a fluke one shot KO. Nonito dominated almost the entire fight.
STEVENSKI
Vic is the man & he is a P4P fighter. Hopefully he will prove it again on Sunday with a dominant display & brutality.

One thing you have to love about Vic is that he takes the toughest fights he can get & does not hide behind his belts.
kidbazooka1
Arce doesn't have that hunger anymore like Vic. During interviews Arce doesn't sound confident at all Acre said that if he wins the fight he should be ranked among the p4p best "if he wins the fight" that kind of mentality right there means Arce has lost all his hunger and desire to win the big one and agianst a fighter like Vic thats not good.

Vic by TKO within 5.
iron_mike
I would really love to see Darchinyan get Donaire'd again, but I'm seeing Vic by 7th or 8th rd KO

Darch will starch Arce in 7.

Styles make fights, but then so does attitude on occassion. And in this fight there should be plenty of attitude on both sides

Darchinyan likes bit of distance to load up his straight power shots, and if he keeps the distance its game over for arce. But i expect he will trade with arce, at the same time giving arce a chance to get inside and wind some vicious body shots. Vics got big balls, and his aggressive attitude will make this a harder fight for him than it needs to be. I really hope he keeps the lessons he learnt against mijares in mind and maintains focus on adhering to the plan, and the little voice inside his head that screams "knock this fucker into a coma" can be controlled for 3 or 4 rounds before being unleashed

I fully expect by the end of this fight arce will be a bloody mess.

Sunday is the day when fights are shown here as we are ahead.

1pm with day light saving and 11am when day light saving is over.
Spyder
So boxing starts your day?

WOW!! That would be an unreal experience for American boxing fans. We're used to a full day of anxiety and usually heavy drinking for the build up...then after the fight we either drown our sorrows until we pass out, or celebrate until we pass out.

I don't know if I'd be able to fall asleep the night before a big fight...it'd be like Christmas Eve to a kid. lol
STEVENSKI
Live boxing = Sunday soak at the pub or BBQ & beers. It also means forking out $45 for a PPV as every fight including the one this weekend the Kastidis fight last weekend & the Mundine one next wednesday are all PPV.

Don't feel too sorry for yourself, we didn't get the Katsidis fight either...

I have never had the Saturday night big fight experience. It must suck I think. I like Sunday afternoon fights. A bit of lunch & a few drinks if you want & just chill.

dirol.gif ... If your using Directv/Hughes.net system, you can add international programming to your package, I get 6 Filipino channels here down south USA ... the Katsidis fight was held @ the Cebu Coliseum in the Queen City, Cebu-Philippines . He went 8 w/ Ramirez who was in survival-mode, dropped him 4 times w/ body shots in the first 5 . All the fights including UFC are free on the Dream Satellite system in the Philippines & yes ...you watch the USA matches during Sunday brunch . Sorry to hear the Aussies have to pay for all fights ... considering Katsidis & Darchinyan fight out of Australia ... that really sucks . Hope to visit Toowoomba, Queensland soon . dirol.gif

i dont even think this fight is close... arce's style plays right into what vic wants to do in a fight.. arce is gonna take a beating before folding... he shows heart and he tries but the bombs continue to land for vic and finally folds in 4 to 6 rounds.. thats my pick.

Yeah, I think I too would prefer Sunday afternoon fights. Friday night fights would be nice as well. Saturday nights will be good, but sometimes it means you got to miss out on something else.

Steve,any predictions of a coma??
STEVENSKI
Could be he has done it before. I hope not though. I like Arce enough so I just hope he gets busted up real bad like Rocky did against Clubber Lang.

It doesn't suck at all...like Fitz said, sometimes you have to make tough decisions...go out, or watch the fight live. Going to the fight is an experience unlike any other. Everyone gets dressed to the nines, and the electricity is amazing. It's an EVENT.
Lil-lightsout
I love Saturday night fights, I would not have it any other way. I guess thats just what I am used to. I have seen the occasional afternoon fight, to me just does not have the same feel to me. I am married too, so I am usually home with the family most the time anyway, so rarely do I go anymore on Saturday nights.

For the fight prediction, I just want to see an action fight. It would be kind of funny if Vic gets KO'd after all his shit talking.
AussieLad
I hate mundine and his bloody wednesday night fights. Luckily he is always fighting some car park attendant or green grocer from argentina so i dont bother wasting my time watching. Who wants to go to work thursday with a hang over?????

I think Saturday nights would be good if you had friends who enjoyed it with you, but I would find myself on a Saturday night telling my friends to come and watch the boxing, they will be like "fuck that" I want to go out and look for girls or do something. I tell them that I'm not going out as I will watch the fight and they will tell me to stop being a poof. Ask me if I am going to stay home on a Satuturday night to watch the fight? They will tell me just to tape it.

Im looking forward to this fight. Darchinyan has looked great in his last couple fights, beating skilled fighters like Mijares and Kirilov. Those were impressive wins to me, and I really can't see Arce beating him. Arce has always been overrated to me, but he can bang. He'll need to catch Vic with something early to get the respect he needs. I don't see it though, and if they trade, Darchinyan will get the better of it. I see Vic stopping him in the 4th round of an action packed fight.
Michigan Assassin
Showtime 2 is rebroadcasting the Darchinyan v Nonito Donaire fight.

Nonito is completely controlling the fight and I hope that we're able to see a rematch of this if Vic gets past Arce.
LeftHookLarry
Arce leads with his melon too often to make it out alive in this one. Darchinnyan appears to have learned his lesson of all offense, no defense.....as he showed very well against Mijares, who I thought would have his way with Vic. Sometimes a guy needs his ass handed to him to become a better fighter. I think this will be the case here.

Arce has it stopped by his corner by the 7th.
kidbazooka1
This fight would have been much more competitve a few years ago but Arce is done now.

Vic by stoppage.

Romulus9
I don't see much middle ground tonight. Either it's an all-out, entertaining war Castillo-Corrales/Hagler-Hearns war, or it's a one-sided Darchinyan beatdown. A couple of years ago, I'd be pretty confident in taking Arce in a nailbiter but not anymore.

It's incredible to look back and realize that one of the few guys to beat Arce is Michael Carbajal. Yeah... he's been around a while.

Because of all the wars that have undoubtedly taken their toll, I'll take Darchinyan with a convincing stoppage in 6, but Arce has his moments and doesn't just get brutally dismantled.
Devo
dirol.gif ... Agreed ... I blogged on this over a month ago & I would not be pushed past saying ... Darchinyan "should" handle Arce ... karma is a funny thing, usually when you run your mouth (example: BJ Penn), you run the risk of looking like a damn fool (example: Darchinyan vs. Donaire) . I remember "Loopy Vic" not accepting the facts after that fight ... totally dis-respectful . There is a fine-line between confidence & bullshit . With the exception of 1 dip from -400 to -350 last week, Vic has held steady @ -400 . dirol.gif

Arce has been around much longer than Vic and has been in many more wars. Despite his age Arce is an old 29 yr old.

The only thing about going to the big fights is that you absolutely have to buy the really expensive tickets because sitting in the upper deck for a big fight means watching it on the screens above the ring. Its better to go to second tier fights and buy tickets up close and watch the big fights on TV unless you're willing to spend some serious cash.

I went to DLH-Mosley 1 and sat in the rafters for $300 a ticket and it was fun, but I never really saw the fight until I got home and watched it on tape. That said, Ali showed up about 20 minutes before the main event and the entire crowd at Staples got on its feet and started chanting "Ali, Ali, Ali, Ali" as the spotlight followed him to his seat - just thinking about it gives me goosebumps.
