1-Mayweather Jr. ALSO made $8,000,000 for the Baldomir fight.
2-Baldomir held the linear title and the truth is his win over Zab Judah who was at the time undisputed Welterweight Champion was bigger than anything Antonio Margarito had done up to that point. You have to remember fitz, Margarito's best win was Kermit Cintron and maybe Andrew Lewis.

Ironically, the one fight that I can recall Mosley turning down was against Margarito. Following that ESPN PPV where Mosley beat Estrada and Margarito crushed Cintron, Shane said he wasn't ready.

As for Mayweather in 2006 and the whole 'toothgate' drama...I have to believe Shane knew then that Oscar was planning on fighting Floyd for bigger bucks soon and was therefore forced to sit on the sidelines. As a partner in GBP, PBF fighting Oscar was better for business.

At the time, Judah vs Mayweather was a bigger fight than Mayweather vs Margarito IMO.

It's not even that, I remember. Mosley just finished the second fight with Vargas and it was September. They asked Mosley about a Mayweather fight, and he said something along the lines like (don't know word for word): "I will take the rest of the year off to relax with the family, and I have to get my tooth fixed as I have a toothache"

All the Mayweather nuthuggers took the toothache statement out of context and basically just ran with it ignoring that he said he wants to take the rest of the year off. Which isn't outrageous considering it was fucking September (he had already fought once that year with Vargas earlier) so it left Mosley about 3 months to sign a fight with Floyd, promote and all of that. Mayweather fans were just grasping at straws, Mosley said he was available the following year. People act like it was like January, lol. They were like 3/4 into the year.

Was this before or after Judah lost to Baldomir? I remember Mayweather being heavily criticised for the Judah fight, who was it on espn that was interviewing Mayweather, and got Mayweather really angry? He was owning Mayweather on national TV and calling him out on everything. He said Mayweather was a paper champion, and will not be considered a 4 division champion because the titles he picked up at 140 and going to pick up at 147 were all paper titles (obviously it was before he fought Baldomir), he was calling Mayweather out on why he would fight Judah when he wasn't even a champion and only held the IBF title because Baldomir couldn't afford sanctioning fees. He was dissing Mayweather on espn big time, and Mayweather was getting very angry, he began to act like a kid and the best comeback he could muster up was "how many fights have you had?", haha.
I don't know, but when espn is dissing you on tv about a fight with Judah when he could have been fighting a real champion, that doesn't sound great.

Once again, this all started because I said the comparison between Miranda (168) and Margarito are way off. Miranda didn't have a title, wasn't a top contender and didn't bring money to the table, on the other hand Margarito had a title, was a top contender and was bring $8million (even though Mayweather got that from Baldomir). Kessler dropping the Miranda fight to fight for a world title is different to anything Mayweather did.

Well this is comparing whether Baldomir or Judah was the better fight, which IMO doesn't matter since he fought both of them. But yeah, his reaction was, and usually is, childish. Logic and public charisma were never Floyd's strong points.

But to answer the question, I still think at the time, regardless of "before or after" the Baldomir fight, a Judah fight was more marketable and more significant than a Margarito fight. That's just me though.


I acknowledged that in a previous post which you never responded to. I basically said, yes, I can see where you're coming from, perhaps they're not linearly comparable. But Kessler pulled out of a fight with no explanation whereas Mayweather just ducked and talked out of his ass. I was just saying that if Mayweather pulled out of a fight with an insignificant opponent comparable to a Miranda of the welterweight division, he'd probably get more flack than Kessler did. Maybe that's the reason some people mention hating on Kessler, which even I as a Kessler fan, was disappointed to hear.

Marlon Wright, this is the ref that officiated Bute-Andrade? He is a straight up piece of shit for his biased actions that night. That is the most angered I ever have been with a referee since Steele in 1990(lets leave it at that, this debate has been beat to death).

The Mayweather-Judah fight still had a buzz to it, especially around the Urban-Hip Hop community. The pre-fight buildup was great and Mayweather was actually the GOOD GUY in this case, Judah was talking alot more trash. Judah lost to Badlomir which definitely hurt his reputation, but it's like hey, shit happens. Upsets happen in the sport. Judah was Undisputed Champ not long before the Mayweather fight and he knocked out a similar fighter to Mayweather (Cory Spinks). He had the speed to match Mayweather and had the power too so there was still some interest in the fight. It turned out to be a pretty good fight after all. Judah at that point was still one of the top Welterweights. Top 5 and a name, especially in New York. The fight itself was also good. Judah gave Mayweather problems early and even knocked him down.

For no legit reason I hate those fuckin Peterson Brothers. Well actually its just one of them, the one that always hiss when he throws a punch. But if both of them do it I hate both of them fuckers too! They keep padding their records up and haven't really stepped up and tried to fight any big name opponents as of yet. The Judah-Mayweather fight was very eventful! I mean not just the fight but all the hype building up to it, the choke out in the ring, the low blows, and all the other drama that came with it. I enjoyed every bit of it.
