*****Attention Boxing Promoters*****Bring boxing back to Bridgeport, Connecticut!!! A special shout out to Don King for being the first, and always daring promoter to bring boxing to Bridgeport for the first time in the summer 2007! But this time maybe instead of HBO or Showtime where the tickets are more expensive, how about an ESPN Friday Night Fights? Unfortunatly the last couple of shows weren't promoted well enough on the local level. I mean I live in Bridegport and I didnt hear about those events until like 2 to 3 days before, and the other event(Olympic Boxing) I didnt find out till the day after! Forget Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos...bring boxing to harbor Yard Arena! Some boxing writer on this forum said that bridgeport isnt a good boxing town...but i beg to differ. I was actually offended. Harbor Yard Arena is a nice sized facility that can fit a maximum pf 10,000 people. I've gone to a few shows there including the Travis Simms event in July of 2007. Located in the heart of downtown. It would probably be easier on the promoters pockets when it comes to the site fee too? Put some latinos on the undercard and maybe put Chad Dawson or that Codrington fellow from Contender (both connecticut natives)and Im sure with some heavy promoting the place would fill! Is this a plea? Maybe for us poor folks who can't afford to travel to the Connecticut casinos, yes? But, hey Im a police officer in bpt...look I'll even offer to direct traffic to the event for free! Lol that's how much I love my city, and the sport of boxing;) I also do a radio show in Bridgeport, and I would promote the event heavily! Any boxing promoters out there reading this? Please respond forum mermbers and writers too! Thanks.
