(this thread is only to discuss potential venue for the possible Mayweather/Pacquiao clash)
If you had your choice, where do you think it should be held??
I'll make an argument for each of the selections above then give my selection
1. Las Vegas - The undisputed home of boxing. Probably the smallest out of all the sites but even the cheapest seat would be probably $150-200 and it would sell quickly.
2. New Yankee Stadium-I'm guessing they threw their hat in the ring based on legendary fights being at the OLD Yankee Stadium and they have a new facility, NYC, yadda, yadda.
3. Cowboys Stadium - A fabulous facility that has (unlike Yankee Stadium to my knowledge, could be wrong) not only hosted other things outside of sporting events but could get additional tailgating revenue (something unheard of in boxing) based on how the screen is seat up outside to the tailgating area. Plus it's rare there will be ANY weather issues as they can open/closed (probably closed during the fight) roof.
4. Superdome - Historic fights have been hosted there and anyone thats been to New Orleans knows it's a fun town. The dining aspect combined with the proximity to the dome for tourist beats all the above (including NYC) HANDS down.
-- -----------------------------------------------
I'm frankly SICK of fights in Vegas. I'm being naive but I would like to see the fight to be accessible to more than just big spenders, celebs, etc. Not that they won't come but the MGM grand holds what 20K? The casinos, ticket brokers will buy out all those seats when the announcement is made. Do something different for a big fight for a change.
I'd like to see it in Dallas and New Orleans a distant second. Dallas is spread out enough that while there will be a HUGE influx in increased traffic, it won't too much affect the locals. Also, the NBA all star game is there this year I believe and this will serve as a litmus test as to how they can handle the flood of people.
While the gambling options are limited, there's a lot to do in Dallas also. Lastly, that venue (I've been) is absolutely UNREAL. Whether they can get 100K depends on how they'll price the tickets but they can EASILY make this fight another Whitaker vs. Chavez (I think that was 50K in San Antonio) type of turnout.
Thoughts??

Vegas hands down! Gives me an excuse to get back there for a big fight that wont involved Ricky Hatton getting KTFO.
Give me the Super Dome.
I think it would be terrific for the city of New Orleans, and a testament to how far boxing has come in the past few years.

It'd be cool to see the fight held in a random, yet intriguing location IE: Zaire, Africa FOreman vs Ali

Philippines or no deal I say. Manny would sell out a 200,000 seat stadium there. Big open air ring just like the old days. Floyd can't sell out a telephone booth & we all know that. Look at his fight with JMMm & how many Mexicans supported their man compared to Floyd fans.

Bring that shit to Charlotte
Seriously the new Cowboys Stadium would be ideal or the Detroit Lions Dome. Doesn't Dallas new stadium hold over 111,000 or something like that?

Because of the income tax in NY. Arum's already said NY is out of the running because of that. And unless Jindal waives the income tax for this fight (Arum said there's talk of that for whatever that's worth) New Orleans will be out of the running as well.
It'll end up going to Vegas as usual, but it'd be cool to see it somewhere else.

Fight will be in Vegas! But I would like 2 see it in Cowboys Stadium I think it holds over 100,000 people and they would have more seats on the field so that's more people and they have that big as screen in the middle of that field ,that would be tight..... and if gives me a reason to go to dallas and check out that stadium and not having to see the cowboys LOL!

This fight needs to be staged at a venue that can hold in excess of 50,000 fans. The usual venues have to be completely ruled out because they are all too small.

Maybe that is why they gifted Guzman with a draw last night.
But seriously (here I go again), sometimes I think the crowd would make a better decision than whoever the prostitutes are scoring the fights (at neutral venues of course).
