I was at the fights Friday night that were on ShoBox. I wanted to post this earlier, but it was finals week until now so I haven't had much time. It was a really good night of fights, anybody watch it on tv?

Shawn Porter is a beast in there. Jamar Patterson was supposed to fight Kayongo in July, but never got on the plane so I was curious to see him. Porter just blew him away though, and dominated every round. Patterson was cut, and that left hook that landed was just vicious. I'm surprised Patterson even made it up.

The main event was entertaining as well. Jesse Nicklow has some mad heart in there. He fought a hard fight and it was pretty close up til the fourth round. Guerrero was just the better boxer and fighter and he landed a huge right that dropped Nicklow. Nicklow was badly hurt, but damn he was still throwing back and landing a couple shots. I thought for a second Guerrero would punch himself out, but he finally staggered and dropped him again, then the ref stopped it.

Minnesota has some exciting prospects coming up too. Javontae Starks and Cerreso Fort had easy victories and are on their way up the rankings. Fighthype just had a prospect profile of Fort, and he's a damn good fighter. He's been a beast since the amateurs and he punches hard. Starks was an olympic alternative in 08 and has had a very decorated career. I think he was offered a deal with Top Rank at one point, but can't confirm that. I think this dude could be champ some day. He has skills and has competed at a national level in the amateurs.

Overall, it was a great night at the fights. I met Steve Farhood and talked to him about that Patterson-Porter fight for awhile actually. He's a really nice guy, and knowledgable. I also got to talk to Antonio Tarver and get his autograph after the fights. He said he's looking forward to Toney. I also got to tell him his 2nd fight with RJJ was a great point of that year. Won 100 bucks at the casino, so yea hell of a night.

Shiiiit, I didn't take any pictures myself. Go to minnesotaboxing.com and jesse kelley has some good shots though. Also, on that website, go to links and there's more pictures on the message board.

Also, there's been rumblings on another website that Toney and Tarver are in talks to fight next year, either spring or summer. Will they fight? Who knows, just sayin what Tarver said to me.

I actually would not mind seeing these two fight at heavyweight. The smack talk leading up to the fight would surely be more entertaining than the fight itself though.

Shawn Porter took care of business, but he's very raw...and not to mention VERY SHORT for a Junior Middle as well...

He needs to focus on his D for a couple of years before he takes on serious comp, or he could end up bein' another Lacy...
King Eugene
For some odd reason I wouldn't mind seeing Tarver beating Toney but I know good and damn well that aint happening. He's all burnt out from the Dawson fight, Toney would have a field day with Tarver.

Yea Porter is fast as hell. He impressed me the most on Friday night. haha, I didn't bet on Tarver that night, but I won 100 playing slots and blackjack all night. I actually see Tarver beating Toney at this point, especially if Toney comes in out of shape. It would be a good fight to make though.
