I had it 95-94 Ouma. A draw or 95-94 Martirosyan wouldn't have bothered me at all. What bothers me is 8-2 with a knockdown and 7-3 for Vanes. That's awful. Not even close!

Agreed there. It was closer to being 96-93 Ouma than it was being 96-93 (or WORSE!) in Martirosyan's favor. The margins were awful. I understand close rounds altering scores but 8-2 and 7-3 are both completely unacceptable.

This is boxing, a warzone, with chaos in it. If you got robbed, then you recover. You're not gonna get robbed 10 times. If you don't recover, then you're not that good. Some great fighters have lost controversial decisions.

Ouma got shafted on those scores. It was a good, tough fight.

Had it gone 12 I do think Vanes might have gotten Ouma out of there. He had him hurt pretty bad the last minute.

They have to pom-pom the undefeated guy, a sad but traditional practice in boxing that influences commentators AND judges. Did not see the fight, but it is almost a foregone conclusion that Ouma was gonna get fucked on a decision.

See and comment in the Mosley-Berto thread for how I think Berto will also be pom-pomed by the judges if it goes to the cards.

The point is we are seeing a growing trend where Journeymen can't get a break and officials can't stand to see the "O go." It's almost always do what you can to protect the more marketable guy.

This is just a fucking warm up for how Mosley MIGHT be treated against Berto, although Shane has strong credentials where he has still won fights that some thought he lost, (Delahoya II,) But this shit WILL be a rude awakening for Joshua Clottey against Pacquaio. You can bet the farm on this.

He didn't get the benefit of the doubt with Cotto, a fight that he very well could have won. Same with at least one of the Wright fights.

If it's VERY close, you could be right about Berto.

STILL... I don't see it going against Mosley in this matchup. Even subconsciously, people know that if Pacquiao-Mayweather doesn't happen, Mosley-Mayweather is the 2nd best choice. Example of such application: de la Hoya-Sturm. Close, close fight, DLH-Hopkins on the horizon, DLH gets the nod 115-113 on ALL THREE CARDS!

I was actually going to post about this fight. I haven't watched it yet, but heard it was a close hard fought bout. It's good to see Ouma doing some good work in there though, he's had a lot of problems in the last couple years. I think he lost to Rosario last year, but maybe he could get his career back on track. Maybe a rematch could be made, or maybe even a bout against Winky Wright.

I thought that too, but I was kind of surprised by that because he was getting hit with lots of clean, semi-heavy shots. I love Ouma and he looked good and he pressed the action all night, but I actually thought he lost a very close fight that could have gone either way.
