Haye originally backed out of a fight to beat Valuev so he had the WBA title to bring to the contract table.
If I remember right, didn't the Klit bro's put in a bit about Haye having to rematch and then fight the other brother if Haye were to win?
Anyway, imo, Haye shouldn't have called out the Klitschko brothers out straight away. Getting a belt and a few fight under his belt first was a good thing to do, now the times right.
He'll lose, but there's enough hype for him to cash out on a big mega fight with either one of them.
BINGO! People forget the level of BULLSHIT....the Klits were trying to force on this man. It's a hard enough task to beat either Klit on sheer size alone....but asking for the BS they were asking for was insane! AND....it really makes me wonder why they were asking for all of that...I really question if all of Haye's shit talking has not actually had an effect.
They wanted him to fight one....then give an automatic fight to the other brother...AND if he somehow pulled off both of those wins....an automatic rematch to the first brother that lost....
I don't blame him at all for saying to hell with it and going an snatching the belt from Valuev to give him more leverage at the negotiations table. I said it was a good move when he did it....and now after seeing HBO turn their back on the Klits.....American fight fans getting sick of their level of comp.....there is ZERO doubt in my mind Haye made the right choice.
AND...you have to admit....getting Wlad to talk shit....is very out of the norm....I think Haye's shit talking may have and will continue to do the trick.....
I think if he can get under their skin enough...which he clearly has already....it might be JUST ENOUGH to make Wlad do a little something out of the ordinary....maybe be just a little more aggitated to get a closer to try to take Haye out....or to come out more aggressive early.....which are things that would benifit Haye should they meet.
And for those picking on Haye for his chin.....you have to remember....Wlad's chin is not the greatest by any strech of the means.....he has had his blocked knocked off more than once....so it's not like there will ONLY be one guy in the ring come fight night with a questionable chin.
AND....really for Haye....what other fights are out there that can net him HUGE money? Sure....he could fight Arreola or Sam Peter or give Rahman another shot.....but NONE of those matchups are going to generate the $ that a fight with the Klits will generate....and with him talking about hanging them up.....I say go for it!
He already captured a HW title...so he will be a multi-divisional champion...He has knocked off Barrett, Valuev and Ruiz....in today's HW landscape....hell that's more than most do to get a shot.
I like Haye....despite his flaws....he is colorful and brings an aspect to the division that has been absent for some time.....INTEREST!
I have not been this interested in a Klit matchup with anybody since maybe the first Wlad/Peter fight.
