Dude, you're a beast..You've got a really good left hand, which is most important in my opinion..Your left hook is your money punch..You're good at sneaking it in and have good technique on it..It's a crisp short punch when ya throw it..Real good shit man..Thanks for showin us..

How tall are you??How much do you weigh??Most the guys you fight are taller,so curious..

It'd be dope to train with ya if you're ever in my area or I'm in yours..
STEVENSKI
Jonny wants to fight you Roll. he ain't like those kids you beat up on/train he is the real deal. See the way he is scouting you looking for your weight & height? That is so he can work on training for the fight & now he has video of you to watch & look for any flaws.

Stay away from him Roll but encourage your brother to fight Jon it would be good for him.
Lil-lightsout
Good stuff man. Thanks for sharing. I have a few of my old fights on VHS, I am tempted to show them.

Thanks, dude.

I'm around 5'11 and I weight around 80-82kgs when I'm fighting....I walk around at 85 kgs normally. I'm a little short for my weight, which is why I cut weight to get into a lighter division.

Yeah, it would be good to get some training done with each other....but it would be one hell of a drive, haha.

We need some vid's off other people too.

Training vid's, fighting footage....I know most of you guys on here train, so would be nice to see you all.

Don't forget Johnny's secret weapon: His trainer. While Roll is training in a nice comfy gym with a heater and a padded ring, Johnny's trainer is making him run hills with construction boots and keeps him alive on a diet of tree bark and steak juice.

Piss off. That's how tall I am, and that's pretty much exactly my weight as well. Except I don't quite have washboard abs like yourself, lol.

Nice video by the way.

Naw,my secret weapon would probably be my right uppercut..

Roll--So you're a light heavyweight??I'm tryin to get there but the lowest I've been able to get was 189 lbs after a training session..It's rough cutting weight..I'm 6'2..May just do heavyweight in the amateurs if I don't get to light heavy..We'll see..I just need to get back to training..My eyes are still buggin a bit, they burn to the point where I can't keep em open when I've tried doing some running these days..Before sweat never bothered my eyes..

My friend is 5'11 at 178 lbs(light heavy) and he hasn't had much problems being at that weight with his height..He won the GG's but lost to the guy who won it all when he went to nationals..

DAMN! Roll f'd those dudes up with some crazy kicks and head-snapping punches! Nice work man, and the soundtrack is dope too.
ROLL DEEP
Haha, thanks guys JD and Snoop. I could take Calzaghe - no doubts! I like Hatton though, so wouldn't fight him laugh.gif

Fitz, yeah, we sound about the same height, etc. I find that I'm pretty much always on the shorter end of the scale when it comes to fights....ah well.

Yeah, Johnny, I'm a light heavy. Crusiers are too tall and super middle is too much to cut down to. I have weighted in at 79kgs once, but that killed me! Ha. It's good to spar with all different heights and weights though as they all have stuff to offer you and spice up your sparring.

Tell her to post every once in a while, we don't have a token female on the board, lol.

Great link...you were dominating those dudes.

Perhaps you should be more of a prick after the fights. Go Roberto Duran style...no hand-shaking...no gratitude...just slap their hand away in disgust, like your are embarrassed for them after getting their asses beat.

This was my very first attempt at a little montage, go easy on me, and I did not want to make a new thread. These are a few clips from a few of my old fights. I threw in a backyard fight clip I had with this dude who had over 20 pounds on me. We did not like each other at all, at that time I only had 1 or 2 amateur fights. Just figured maybe a few of you would be interested in watching. Thanks guys.

You got a pretty sick right hand there man and some of those left hooks were short and crisp.

LOL @ the backyard brawl. You were really trying to take that dude's head off even after he hit the ground.

That guy at the Backyard Brawl used to always get under my skin. He would always try and flirt with my woman, and tell her stupid shit about me. Hahaha. It's even better after hearing the back story. Here, have your cheap shot (I am a big fan of this one) in .gif form. You should use it for your AV, and I know you were flirting with the idea of changing your name after last night, but it seems like you were convinced otherwise. But maybe with the new .gif, you could change it to 'Lil-Maussa'.

Nice Vid. Uncle Bud, see you at the gym tommorow
Lil-lightsout
MMM- Hahaha. Thanks dude. I always tried to be in shape, though a few I would like to forget. One thing that sucked about the amateurs is you only had an hour or two before you fought, so you had very little time to rehydrate. So usually I felt much quicker and better sparring in the gym than at the fight itself cause I almost always lost those last few extra few pounds the wrong way.

Man Blaze... I am disappointed in you. laugh.gif I have been busting your balls for so long to see you in action with no luck, and all you do is offer excuses. Joking. So I post a few of my old fights and you give me no response whatsoever. And I was looking forward to your response. wtf.gif

LLjr... See ya tomorrow kid. Oh... what the heck is this Nick H. maybe going to SV??? This is not true is it?

LL you throw like a man with bad intentions. You had some power in that right hand huh? Very impressive, whatsmore your style looked more suited for the pro's than the amateurs, real crowdpleasing style. Boxer/puncher. Power boxing as Captain Jack calls it laugh.gif

That backyard beatdown was MEAN.

I figured no one would want me to post since I haven't shown anything and that if I did post, guys would jump on me..Also,it takes a lot longer to type with one hand so I haven't been on too much..Also,the pain killers got me fucked up..hahahaha..That's the only good thing though..

You're a warrior LL..You love gettin into it and from what I've seen, you've also got a good combo of D and counterpunchin at short range..Good speed..Also,you can take a shot too..Your left hand is your better hand in my opinion..Your left hook is sweet looking when short and while your arm is in an L shape so you'd get real good power on the shot..Those shots had some heat on em..hahaha..Your right hand looks strong..It could be shorter and straighter but atleast you maintain balance when they are wide even though you're open for a second..Yet,seem like a hard guy to hit though..I don't remember your record but I bet you gave a lot of guys problems..The best way to fight you would be to box from the outside and not let you get close..hahaha..No wonder your name is Lil-lightsout..

That backyard fight was so bad ass..You're the man..This shit took me 20 mins to write..hahaha..
LilLightsOutJr
LL i dont think that is true i didnt hear that
JonnysTrainer
You have some power, but you know what is scary? I would have added at least 75% to that if I had you underneath my wing and even up to 150% give or take. You could have been a star kid.
I am still training Jonathon but he is sidelined for the time being and am confident he will be a star, though he still needs a bit more masculinity and try grow a beard or moustache, that is something he can work on in his time off. At the moment, he only has some bum fluff above his lip.
Lil-lightsout
LLjr- Oh, ok. Just a rumor.

Ollie- Thanks man. Many people told me that my style was better suited for the pros. I should post a clip of that dude moaning on the ground after being down. laugh.gif

Blaze- Thanks for the compliments dude. Sorry to hear about your hand, wish you a speedy recovery. Pretty good assessment of me. When I would spar, I am mainly a counter-puncher, that likes to throw straight rights. But in my fights I would loop my rights too much IMO, and I would be way more aggressive in actual fights.

JTrainer- If only I could have had your guidance and knowledge... We'd be ruling this game. laugh.gif

Was a church turned into a boxing/karate gym. That was that kids gym and it was on a college fight card. We were the only two open fighters there, and the last fight. I remember some of the college kids that fought that day, made us look like top pro contenders, lol. It's kind of funny that in the first round he threw a right at me and it hit me in the left shoulder(shoulder roll) and knocked me off balance and I got called for a standing eight. I was like arguing with the ref about it hit me in the fucking shoulder. That is why in that fight in his hometown I started more just loading up bombs trying to take him out. Whats even funnier is about a year or so later my uncle showed me a write up in his newspaper saying he was 16-0 or some shit. I guess they forgot my fight with him?

Not trying to brag, but easily my best punch was my left hook to the body. I have dropped countless people in sparring with that punch. Sparring was usually controlled with power to the head where I sparred, but the body was always free game. I kept a lot of people in check with that punch. Man... I could tell you stories about...
Fitz
I'm a righty as well, but my best punch is my left.

I don't know if anyone has the same problem I do, but I find it hard letting my straight right go. I just don't feel as comfortable and feel like I am much more open. My left is my punch and feel that much more comfortable and confident throwing it than my right.

I would say that is not a real problem, just a natural thing many feel. Every time you commit with the right you are obviously more exposed and open to a counter. You should know from all your years of watching boxing, how many times fighters refuse to let the right hand go. It looks easy for us on the outside looking in, but when in the ring it is not as easy to commit with the right hand. Even if I spar a little now, I mainly just use jabs and hooks to control guys. Occasionally mixing in a few right hands once in a while, just not as frequent as the left. Funny, my cousin where a body protector a lot that i love to hit and he always yells at me to throw more straight rights, lol.

I am by no means an expert trainer, but what I do is shadow box and imagine a real fighter in front of me. Set up my right with jab then throw my straight right, and picture my opponent throwing a hook or counter right at you after you throw your right. That way I am not thinking what to do next after I throw a right, my instincts let me react the proper way for a counter punch. What I am trying to say is that way maybe you would have more confidence in letting it go more often if you knew you were confident in eluding a counter punch? Make sense? Back in the day my trainer also did a lot of mitt work, and so many of the drills had you ducking counters off a straight right hand. And believe me, it helps you react better so you just do not stand there like a sitting duck.

Ever watch Virgil Hill fight? I watched a ton of his fights back in the day, man that dude ONLY used his left hand. Amazing if he would have developed a right hand to go along with it.
BigG
Hey Lil Light...did you ever balloon between fights?
Lil-lightsout
QUOTE (BigG @ Sep 1 2010, 03:44 AM) *
Hey Lil Light...did you ever balloon between fights?

Oh SHITTTTT!!! Great question.

Hell yeah I did, LOL! My trainer so many times would try and get me on the scale at the gym, but I would flat out refuse cause I knew what I weighed. I would just tell him, don't worry, i will make the weight at the fight.

Huge problem for me, not as bad as Toney though. My problem was my eating habits and woman problems. I had a lot of personal problems with this certain female(my wife) back then that too many days I would skip out on the gym, and also skip on my diet. So yeah I would put on too much weight and then ended up training with a rubber suit a lot to lose the water weight. Man, if I only knew back then about proper nutrition and dieting, I would have had way better stamina.

I usually fought at 132, but walked around at 150 or so. After my fighting days, in 2005 I actually ballooned up to 199lbs!!! scare.gif I looked like Hatton, hahaha.

My best advice is to study the basics on nutrition and try and cut out sugar as much as possible, and try to stay as close(comfortably) to your fighting weight. So much more involved, but too much to explain. That's why I like Tim Bradley so much, he eats so healthy and his weight does not fluctuate that much.

Thanks dude. You know what really sucked about being a power puncher? I could not tell you how many times at other gyms I almost always had to spar heavier fighters. Because so many times during sparring(or actual fighting without spectators, lol), i would drop guys my weight and they would be pulled and in comes a guy 2 weight classes above me. It used to really piss me off, cause I know how to spar, but so many dudes would go 100% and I had no choice but to go hard right back. Some guys would never believe I weighed 135, hahaha.

Yeah Blaze... post something soon.

laugh.gif Yeah, ummmm... you got any slower fighters? It's just not fair, they are too fast, lol.

I shit you not.

It was not the fighters that would pull that shit, it was the trainers. It's like they need to show their superiority. I could say so many examples of BS that used to irritate me. One time after owning some 132 pounder for 3 rounds, they threw in a very solid 154lb. fighter with me. It was the ONLY time I was off my feet in sparring from a head shot, lol. Afterwards though the dude told me he was close to going down after I smashed him with my best hook, though the right hand he hit me with put me right on my ass. Hahaha.

ROLL DEEP
Yeah, people SHOULD spar at a relaxed pace sometimes.

If there is no danger of being hurt, you can work on slips and head movement - for example. If someone is always trying to take your head off with a punch, you won't have the confidence to practice different things.

Obviously, once a fighter is becoming comfortable with the new learned skill, the tempo must be upped bit by bit to resemble a fight.

But yeah, we have guys in my gym who just try to kill anyone they get in the ring with - bigger, smaller, women, lol....anyone!

i can spar with guys and girls who are much lighter, and I can pull shots and make sure they get a good workout without going in all guns blazing....i've never understood why people do that?!
Lil-lightsout
When I trained all the time at my gym, most knew how to "spar" properly, there were the occasional few who just could not control there punches. But mainly when you go to another gym, then it's mostly just a fight, haha. My trainer ALWAYS told me that, we are not going to spar, we are going to fight! This is their gym and they don't want to look bad at their gym, so be ready for anything.

I am with Roll, I love the relaxed controlled sparring. Then both fighters benefit and can learn from one another. And most importantly you learn to relax in there and not tense up so much. Sure you need to bring up the intensity too sometimes, but both fighters should be on the same page. It amazes me how some just do not get how to just "work" on stuff while sparring.

Even now I spar a little up at my brothers little MMA gym, and most understand the concept of "sparring" with me. Me and my brother have been sparring for over 20 years now, we definitely helped each other out a lot. But there is this one dude who is really cool and tough, but he weighs 205lbs and just can not relax sometimes and is always so tense and hard with his punches. Man I REALLY wish I had taped me sparring him and this other dude who was 195lbs, dropped them both HARD with left hooks to the body when they got a little out of control. laugh.gif

Fitz- First off...where some damn headgear, lol. Second, quit smoking and get back in there so maybe in 6 months we can see you in a video up in here. I am sure we will still be waiting on Blaze...
JonnyBlaze
I've got a video of me hittin the speed bag and me throwing some left hooks on a med. ball I think..Once I get back to my apt. in the city in the next few days,I'll see if I can get that stuff up..I remember having some problems last time I tried but if that happens again,I'll e-mail the videos to someone..

Wish I had sparring footage..Especially when I dropped this guy who was like 225(like 25 lbs heavier than me at the time) right on his face..He fell forward on his face with his arms stretched out after he missed a left hook and I threw an overhand right and caught him flush but not full powered..
BigG
I got some of my fights in video cam and I got a vid of me hitting the double end bag and heavy bag I'll post it as well

BTW Good shit Roll and Lil Light on the videos...
