Really excited to see the fights tonight. I'll be sitting at a ringside table, so that's going to be sweet. I've never seen Chris Martin fight, but I hear he's busy in there. He doesn't have a ton of power, but he's 18-0 and has a couple decent victories over a 15-0 fighter and Torrence Daniels. Chris Avalos is an exciting fighter too. He has some pop and also likes to come forward. I think it's going to be a great fight, and it will be closely contested. Both guys have fought about the same level of opposition. If Martin can take the punches, I think he has a shot to outwork Avalos and win a decision.

I've also heard a lot of hype surrounding Lateef Kayode. Freddie Roach is going to be there tonight with him. He has a lot of power, and he has some nice KO's. I think he's on his way to another one against Escalera. Escalera got KO'd when he went on The Contender, and he hasn't fought very good opposition.

The off-tv portion of the card is good too. It will be good to see Matt Vanda and Andy Kolle get showcased. Vanda's in with a tune up, but Kolle has a decent fight on his hands. He's fighting Darryl Salmon, who knocked down Joe Greene with a shot. He's lost four in a row, so we'll see if he shows up to win. The weigh ins weren't a good indication of that. Salmon weight in at 170, then 165 two hours later. The contract weight was 160, so I don't think he's in shape. They also added Mo Harris and Nagy Aguilera in a cross-roads fight which should be good.

Oh, watch out for Hector Orozco. He's 3-5, but he's been fighting all undefetaed fighters and getting tough breaks. He's gained revenge on two of those fighters already. The dude he's fighting is 6-0, but hasn't been matched tough at all. I think Hector surprises him with his aggression and work-rate. He's a really cool guy too, so I'd love to see him win again and take another "0".

I just got back, I won like 300 bucks at the casino tonight. The fights were awesome, even though the ballroom didn't fill up for shit. I thought for sure with Kolle and Vanda on the card, they would draw a decent crowd. However, both were in with overmatched opponents. Darryl Salmon shouldn't be put on another card anytime soon. He didn't show up to win, and came in 10 pounds overweight. This is pretty unprofessional. Kolle starched him with a huge right hook in the middle of the first round. Vanda looked sharp against his dude, but he was pretty overmatched too.

I don't know why fightnews is reporting two huge upsets. Avalos was never all that, and Martin was able to take the heat. He beat Avalos to the punch every time, and if he had power he would have laid him out. He was really nailing Avalos with those counter hooks, and baiting him into it every time. I had it 96-94 Martin, and he's a pretty good fighter. He fought with a lot of passion, and he was a better boxer than I thought he would be.

Mo Harris boxed fairly well too for the first six rounds. Harris has always had skill, and he was always capable of beating a fighter like Aguilera. Harris was on his toes in those first six rounds, not letting Aguilera on the inside. He also stunned Aguilera numerous times in the first six rounds. It was an ugly fight for the last six rounds though. There was a ton of holding on the inside. I thought Aguilera carried some of these rounds, but he wasn't really doing much. Harris finished the 12th round strong, and fought a good fight.

Not super impressed with Kayode, but he has some nice power. Both guys gave out a lot of punishment, but Kayode always seemed to get the better of the exchanges. Escalera was out of it at the end of that fight.

I got to shake Tarver's hand, but didn't really get to talk to him much. I talked to him last December when ShoBox came to Minnesota. The blonde ring card girl in the yellow kept checking Tarver out too. Everytime she would walk by, she'd look down at Tarver and sometime bite her lip. Overall, it was a great night and a good night of fights. I was sitting right behind the announcing crew, so I don't think I got on TV. However, if you saw a dude with a jheri curl in a short sleeve white dress shirt, that's me. I got to sit at a ringside table, since out comped tickets got upgraded. We got a free buffet and free soda for the whole night, so that was a sweet deal.

Sounds Cool Kyle!

That was a good card! Was that the local judge that had it 98-94 for Avelos!? I think he must of been on something. No question that Martin should have won, and it was good that he did. When they said "Split Decision" I felt for sure that Martin was gonna get robbed.
