and the winner will beeee....the young American, Nonito Donaire...

Like his hometown friend, Andre Ward...in plain and simple terms.....The Kid has It.

I see a good and exciting fight with Donaire comin' through like a new, shining star...

This has all the ingredients of a classic and I am anticipating a wonderful fight between two exceptional boxers.  Donaire has everything a superstar fighter needs and with a win over Montiel will cement his standing in the P4P rankings. I think Donaire does everything better than Nando and because of this I see him winning a clear unanimous decision, maybe even doing enough damage to force a late rounds stoppage.

Montiel is a good crafty fighter, I really like how he sets up his punches, especially when he switches stances. He's a world class fighter. But like you said, Donaire has IT. Montiel has some big wins (Hernandez, Castillo, Hasegawa) but in a lot of his fights he's been dropped, busted up or cut. He's a hot/cold fighter, he might look great one night and shitty the next. Now, we know he's going to bring his A game against Donaire, but I just see Montiel having trouble in coping with Donaire's foot speed, reflexes and lightning quick counter punches. Let's not forget that Montiel has had a tough time with tall fighters (Gonzalez and Valdez) and Donaire is faster and more skilled than either of them.

Montiel does have the power to knock Donaire out, but I see this being a tactical fight in which Donaire lands more "ooh" inducing punches than Montiel and ends up cutting him for a TKO stoppage.

Anything other than a Montiel decision won't shock me. A Montiel decision is the least likely result in this fight. I'll lay my life savings on that.

im going with donaire only cuzz ive seen a little more of him but i wish i knew what kind of punch he took... the more im looking at these two im pretty confident the fights gonna end in a knockout...
Fitz
Just put $100 on Donaire by stoppage.

I voted a pick em. If it's a boxing match, I give a slight edge to Montiel. A brawl, to Donaire. I don't know if a war, or boxing match breaks out here.

I would not bet on this fight.

Montiel struggle against Gorres who boxed him, and Donaire is far better than Gorres in skills and power. If Montiel will not KO Donaire he will lose a close decision. If Montiel can impose his will and force Donaire into a brawl like what Rafael Concepcion did then Montiel chances are higher. But if he opt to box, Donaire will outbox him easy...Montiel look ripped and solid in today's weigh in..

I say the winner is the fans! Except me of course because I work every saturday night! Fuck you shitty job. fuck.gif

Every saturday while at work I text my nephew who is in high school, and at the end of every text I make sure to tell him to do good in school and go to college, lol. It's a long running joke we have going. My question is where were my Uncles or other family members when I was that young to help guide me who knew dick about life??? Sorry for the rant.

That's an interesting bet. Sportsbook has Donaire by decision at +200 and by stoppage at even. Between those two I'd take Donaire by decision all day. I think this is going to end up being a tactical boxing match where Donaire takes it 9-3. I just don't see Donaire being aggressive enough to go for the ko unless it's just handed to him because he's not going to have to be.

Nonito IMPRESSIVELY. I like a 10th round TKO.

Either Montiel's corner throws in the towel or he retires on his stool.

I usually hedge my bets and would often put some money on the decision line either. But the other website I use had better lines for a decision, but had no money in that account, so just put it on by stoppage on the account I did have money in.
Plus, I feel really strongly about Donaire in this fight, and have for a while.

judging these two guys fighting style i just dont see how this fight goes the distance... and i expect the fight to be over by the end of 6... only way it doesnt end fairly fast and explosive is if they get to showing too much respect for each other....
Byrd Man
I got Donaire by 6th round KO/TKO

Nice. It turned out ok salvador, I was very confident in Donaire from the start and I thought a stoppage was likely. Usually when I'm confident in a result, I won't concern myself too much about hedging my bets. So it wasn't a more attractive line like the decision one. But I thought it was likely, so I went straight for that.
The CEO
Good hit, Fitz...you knew Donaire goes for it....personally, I'm a little disappointed tonight....I wanted to see more of his work...lol
Fitz
Thanks CEO. I really wanted Montiel to knock Donaire out good. But I knew Donaire was too well skilled, and used his height well also. Montiel needed to get inside and I thought that wouldn't work too well for him. I thought stylistically, Donaire was wrong for Montiel.
