Cesar Seda 20(15)-0 v Omar Narvaez 33(19)-0-2 = The winner of this one could be in Segura's not so distant future. Both have largely fought at home for their entire careers. This is a big trip for Seda. Narvaez appears to have fought the stiffer competition on paper but it is hard to tell at these lower weights. Both can obviously crack but Seda seems to have been the more lethal recently. I think the key will be similar to the 2 upsets last weekend - height and length goes to Seda. Somebody is visiting The Land of Twitch.
Seda TKO 5

Saturday, 4/16/11

Juan Manuel Lopez 30(27)-0 v Orlando Salido 34(22)-11(5)-2 = I don't want to disrespect Salido but this is really just an opportunity for Lopez to one up Gamboa, who failed to put the journeyman pro away. Lopez TKO 10

Amir Khan 24(17)-1(1)-0 v Paul McCloskey 22(12)-0 = I have to give Khan props for giving McCloskey the shot of a lifetime. Paul appears to be outclassed here, however, he has stopped everyone he has faced since about the time Prescott sent Khan to lala land. This is a dangerous fight for Khan (especially given what has happened to undefeated "phenoms" in the last 7 days). I also have to take into consideration the bigtime trouble that Maidana had Khan in and how Maidana was made to look last weekend. McCloskey KO 6

Martin Murray 21(8)-0 v John Carvalho 21(11)-4(1)-1 = A decent test for Murray. Not the type of test that will prepare him for SMartinez. Murray UD

Andre Berto 27(21)-0 v Victor Ortiz 28(22)-2(1)-2 = I really could not understand this match making when it was announced, but the closer it has gotten the better it looks. Ortiz is still looking for redemption and Berto is still looking for respect. Ortiz has only been stopped by himself (with an assist from Maidana). Berto was in some serious trouble v Collazo. This has the potential to be a classic. So much raw talent and punching power. Definitely the fight to look forward to of the weekend (though I obviously believe that Khan v McCloskey is going to be huge). I've got to take Berto in a flamethrower. Berto TKO 4

Sunday, 4/17/11

Chris John 44(22)-0-2 v Daud Cino Yordan 27(21)-1 = This fight has danger written all over it for John. While Yordan has not had the career or fought the comp that John has, he is tough, skilled and has dangerous pop. His only loss was to Caballero in a good fight a year ago when Caballero was still interested in the profession. He has also been in the ring with Guerrero (momentarily). John has not been impressive lately, IMO. He has been coasting and has been hiding in Indonesia. Leave it to a fellow Indonesian mongoose to get the job done. Yordan TKO 9

Think my picks suck?

Your turn!

Amir Khan looks massive after the weigh in.

Paul also looks better than I've seen him in the past but I get the feeling Khan will win this comfortably and Paul will only be commended for his bravery in defeat. Khan KO 4.

A lot of BS by Caiz Jr.

Thanks 6Killer.

You are correct. Caiz Jr. decided that fight by taking Seda out of his body attack. I watched it twice. I have it a draw, only because of the point taken away from Seda.

Damned decent fight, although Narvaez was playing the bitch to the ref early on.

Seda is a decent example of a Puerto Rican with whiskers.

Segura should not be lured to Argentina to go after Narvaez. Segura's body attack will destroy Narvaez, IMO, if it is anywhere but Argentina. Seda would have won that fight if he had not been forced to alter his attack.

Beardo just wanted to quickly say I like your upset pick for Daud Cino Yordan over John. I think there may be something in that.

Ortiz/Berto interests me the most though. Not keen on either guy, but I think I'd like Ortiz to pick up the win in that just Berto can get off his (too) high horse.

I picked Berto but I would not be shocked to see it go exactly the opposite way, Ollie. Looking forward to it either way.

Yordan is young, skilled and hungry. John has to rely on one of the three, superior skill.
