Full Version: Open Letter to Ben Thompson

I am Walstan86 on the Fighthype board. CEO gave me your address. I've been bugging him about Floyd/Manny. Specifically, I've been urging him that Fighthype go back to Floyd with one further question. (I have no agenda except my selfish desire that the fight should happen before I die. lol)

I know that you have a special relationship with Floyd and propose that it would be a great story for Fighthype to get Floyd's reaction to the several pronouncements by Team Pacquiao that they are agreeable to all of Floyd's testing demands.

Pac is agreeable to Floyd's testing demands with no cutoff date. In fact, Pac has said on film that he will test "before the 6th round" if that's what Floyd wants. (The videos and interviews are out there--here are two of them, though there are more--as I'm sure you know: http://www.fighthype.com/community/index.p...=0&start=0)

But here's my question: Does Floyd know that Pac has said that he's agreeable now to all of Floyd's testing demands? Has Floyd seen the recent vid and print interviews where Pac and Arum have declared Manny's willingness to do any and all testing?

Since testing is apparently no longer an obstacle to the fight, does Floyd know that he has won the "testing wars"? Has anyone told him??? Aside from the back room politics of the whole testing issue, I just wish we could 1) know for sure that Floyd has heard Pac's statements of concession, and 2) hear Floyd's reply. If Floyd is skeptical and umimpressed, that's fine. I'm sure he has his reasons. But let him express them, and maybe Pac can offer some concrete assurances in return.

Fighhthype is uniquely poised to pose this question to Floyd. His reply might help to inch the prospect of a showdown with Manny forward. Please consider undertaking the task.

Yours truly,

Walstan86

you ain't fucking around with this, lol
have to admire the determination
Hops
This won't work. Floyd bites back when he's cornered.

Well, anyway, I think Ben should help boxing by doing the following:

1. Save those two interviews in his mobile.
2. Show those vids to Floyd in his next interview.

Two things may happen:
3a. Floyd suddenly freezes; or
3b. Floyd composes himself well and say "They are liars."

4a. Floyd freezes and divert the issues. In this case, we'll know he's the PUSSY. End of interview.

4b. Floyd says "Arum and Pac are liars."
5b. Ben asks, "Floyd, are you willing to call them out..." AS WHAT WAS RECOMMENDED BY THE THREAD STARTER. So that people will know that PAC is the Pussy.

CLOSED RESPONSE FROM BEN THOMPSON...

I'll reply with a very shortened version of the email I just sent to you.

Here's the same simple question....

IF Manny Pacquiao has indeed agreed to FULL RANDOM BLOOD/URINE TESTING leading ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL THE BOUT WITH NO CUTOFF DATE, then why hasn’t his promoter, Bob Arum, presented a contract to Mayweather’s advisor, Al Haymon, which states exactly that?

dntknw.gif

Now, not for nothing, but it's not my job to make this fight happen...nor is it my job to pass on information from Team Pacquiao to Team Mayweather. WHEN Bob Arum is ready to make the fight, I'm quite sure he'll work just as diligently with Team Mayweather as he did with Team Marquez to make the necessary changes they need to make to the contract in order to get the fight done.

And not for nothing, like I already said in the email, I've personally been contacted by members of Team Pacquiao I know who are STILL talking about a cutoff date. Apparently, they must have missed Pacquiao's pre-Margarito fight video and Arum's "tests aren't an issue" videos as well. Unlike Teddy Atlas, I actually keep all of my emails. Just ask Brad Cooney. LOL. I'm just sayin.
BoxingStill#1
Bombarding Floyed with Pac questions may be reason to lose Bens foothold with him....

IMO, if we happen to have another interview soon or at all, I would just mention it btw... if he bites we could see if he wants to make any statement regarding the interviews...

Just sayin...

Edit: obviously I posted at the exact same time as you hype....no mockery in the "just sayn" ...lls

Thanks for your reply, Ben. Fair enough: "Why hasn’t his promoter, Bob Arum, presented a contract to Mayweather’s advisor, Al Haymon, which states exactly that?" If that's what Floyd wants, merely let him say it, and the ball is back in Pac's court. Who knows, Floyd might just get what he asks for. But, please, give him the forum to make the request. It's within the realm of possibility that Team Pac fulfills it.

i've personally never seen anything about team Pac agreeing to the full testing Mayweather wants. i'm thinking Hype will probably have more insight into this than i'll too.

i would like to see the fight happen but Pac has never agreed to the testing Mayweather is asking for and Mayweather will never agree to get rid of the testing. people still turning this shit into a Mayweather vs Pacquiao debate completely overlook the fact that neither one of these guys have ever said anything about regretting that the fight hasn't happened or that they care about making it happen, both of them say they don't need each other for money or glory. neither of them care about making the fight.

Gravy, from my perpective, the impotant thing is making sure that these two aren't talking over each other's heads. Like the "13 Questions" interview. That was huge in terms of boxing history. It memorialized Floyd's responses to some very important questions--important not just to us, but to posterity. It was a brilliant snapshot into the mind of one of the greatest who ever lived.

Imo, the boxing world would forever be grateful to get Floyd's response to the single question on which the Fight of the Century hinges.

The same Brad Cooney who "no longer reads FightHype" but still manages to make it abundantly clear that he does?

laugh.gif

I'd rather read the boxing-related musings of Gerry Cooney anyway. At least Gerry isn't an absolute jackass... he just couldn't handle a Foreman uppercut, Holmes right hand... or much of anything from Michael Spinks after the layoff.

The only thing left for him to do is to start managing (or is it "advising") fighters.

Hops
Instead of telling stupid things like dog's white's best friend, or somethin' about yellow midgets... Here's what Floyd's should do:

Go boot his PC, start his webcam, and start recording this:

"Hey, Packy. I've seen your video of you saying you'd agree to blood testing even in between rounds. I don't know whether you're lying or not. Tell you what. Why don't you draft an agreement saying you now agree to the OSDT, sign it, pass it thru one your nuthuggers, i.e. Merchant, Brad Cooney, (lol) before sending it to me. If you can't do this simple thing, then you're ducking me.".

Then, after recording, Floyd should upload the video to FB, Twitter, YouTube, PornTube, RedTube, etc. etc.

the fight would be huge in terms of boxing if they actually fought. the question means nothing since team Pacquiao has never given an answer to it yet either.

the big issue is that neither fighter cares whether they fight each other or not.

Fighters today r just different. What would Ali had done iF a top fighter showed up in his weight class? What about Sugar Ray Robinson?how about Duran? These great fighters would be knee deep n Pac's arse by now. Sign of the times when the best fighter on the planet is resisting the challange from the second best fighter.

neither one of them has accepted the challenge.
Spyder
When are you guys gonna understand that neither guy wants to "make the fight"?

All of these "reasons" are just excuses. Once they're solved, new ones will arise. Floyd is happy being an ex-fighter, and Pac is happy being the Undisputed P4P King.

Hops
Nope. I don't think both are happy getting their faces punched. At this stage, both want to enjoy their lives. Pacquiao, now a congressman, want to concentrate on politics. Floyd, (place career here), want to concentrate on doing (place what a person in the same career is doing).

But Pac's fighting, while Floyd is not fighting.

Sorry guys, but Pacquiao is making money off Floyd's name. Pacquiao made himself look like the victim. Pacquiao has encroached on Floyd's territory, taken his women, killed his relatives, tainted his name. Well... a bit of an exaggeration. But you should get the point. Floyd is afraid of doing the necessary things to fight back.

Even those pussies in the movies who were being bullied eventually fight back.
Run and Gun Game Calls
I'm just curious, why would you offer a contract to a former fighter who claims they are not fighting right now, and have no plans to fight anytime soon.

If Floyd is interested in getting back into the ring again, and against Pacquio, wouldnt it benefit Mayweather promotions to actually present Pac with the contract, and call his bluff?

Mayweather has to decide he is ready to fight again, and until he does that, it makes no sense to offer him anything. Mayweather could use the video footage, present Pac with a contract, and win the PR war hands down if he were to call Pacs bluff and Pac then refused.

The Ball is in floyds court, and it is on him to make a move, not Pac, Pac is actually fighting

Well. Hops, I guess it boils down to keeping the ball rolling forward--not backward (where everyone has a legitimate gripe about the way things went down.) But forward, getting past the hang-ups, closer to a mutual meeting of the minds. Fighthype/Thompson is in a unique position to affect boxing history by approaching Floyd with the facts as they are today. It's a move that can make all the difference, a move for the ages.

No disrespect to Fighthype, but I think you're seriously over-estimating Hype's "pull" with Floyd.

Floyd has to be coddled in his interviews, or he gets all butt-hurt and turns into a bitch. You can't push him into a corner or pressure him, because he'll just cut you out and move on. Seriously. The man is as adept at ducking and dodging questions as he is ducking and dodging punches in the ring. It may not be pretty, but in the end it gets the job done.

I personally don't care what Floyd or Pac have to say at this point. They're both bitches on a playground, each telling the other to bring it, but neither of them ever does. And a lot of fans are those stupid kids standing around them, egging them on. "Did you hear what he said? Are you gonna take that?"

Let it go already. If they fight, they fight. If they don't, they don't. But whatever happens, it won't be because the internet or a boxing website made it so. It'll be because one, or both, of these two men grows a pair of testicles, or realizes that $50,000,000 is enough money to sensibly retire on, the world and legacy be damned.

Floyd may have more talent than all 3 fighters mentioned (I don't subscribe to that) but he will never be mentioned in the same breath as these legends because unlike Floyd they would take on ANYONE who stepped to them.

True story a close friend of mine told me a few years back...

JB was student teaching at a low income school in Baton Rouge, LA. Every day in one of his classes, these same two freshmen would jaw back and forth at each other. 'Man fuck you I'll whip your ass', 'Bitch you ain't shit I'll fuck you up', etc. The other kids oohed and aahed, got excited, and every day JB would have to waste a bunch of his time telling the two kids to cut it out, and the class to settle down. It went on and on for weeks.

So JB had an idea one day. He spoke to another teacher who had that period free, and made sure if/when he needed him, he could cover his class for a few minutes. So the class comes in and the two boys start doing their thing, yelling back and forth, and all the kids are laughing and egging them on. This time however, instead of telling the kids to cut it out, JB calls the two boys to come out in the hall with him. The class ooohs real low - they think the kids are finally in trouble.

JB takes the kids in the hallway and asks the other teacher to cover his room for a few. He then tells the boys to follow him, and proceeds to lead them outside through the courtyard and into a private spot behind an equipment shed. And he says, 'OK, you guys want to kick each others' asses so bad. Have at it. I'm here. I'll break it up when it's ready to be broken up. No one else will know. Neither of you will get in any trouble.' And what did the two kids go? Got real quiet and confused, and looked at each other sheepishly and mumbled about not wanting to fight. JB asked them again, 'Are you sure? This is your chance.' The boys were sure. They wanted to go back to class. So JB took them back, and the rest of the class neither kid said a word to each other, too embarrassed to speak.

But the next class they were right back at it. 'Fool I'll fuck you up', 'Shut up punk I'll knock you out'. And the rest of the class oohed and aahed and egged them on. And JB told them to cut it out, and the class to settle down. It went on and on.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that story. Warlord's analogy made me think of it.

Pac in almost ever interview he says he will agree.its team pac and bob who wont agree to the test .second negotiatios they said they agreed .well on 24 7 vs margarito Michael Koncz came out and said they wanted a 7 day cut off now.Floyd is asking for random up to the fight that is something team Pac has yet to agree to.
Walstan86
Well, thanks for the advice guys. Letting Nature take it's course is hard to argue with. But we're not talking about oceans and and mountains here. We're talking about a news-gathering site seeking comment from a public figure. Not merely waiting for news to happen, but going after the story... naturally.

I respect BOTH FIGHTERS unlike MOST PEOPLE...but I am sorry I have to call it like I see it and Pacquiao Team (Arum, Koncz, Roach...) they all CONTRADICT THEMSELVES ALL THE TIME but yet NOBODY EVER CALLS THEM OUT ON IT:

...and when someone do then all of the Pacquiao Sheeps come flying to their defense and making so many EXCUSE FOR THEM

Mayweather...IS TELL THE WORLD WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE THIS FIGHT HAPPEN! But yet all I see is negative articles just continuing to BASH MAYWEATHER! Watching these videos it looks to me like the guy WANTS TO FIGHT but he wants to make sure that Manny is not on ANYTHING which is REASONABLE IMO

Why not talk about how it was Manny side that walked away from the Negotiation table when the Cutoff Date WAS 14 days a year or 2 ago, only to comeback and say a year later...OK I WILL TAKE YOUR 14 Days...then Mayweather side basically said "FORGET THAT YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE TO ACCEPT THAT OFFER...NOW IT IS UP TO THE FIGHT"

Props to BEN for actually getting "THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY" because clearly it is many Writers who are probably in the POCKET of Top Rank or they are on their KNEES SUCKING AWAY AT ARUM and PACQUIAO because they want to make sure they get their Credentials for Pacquiao/Top Rank Events I guess

It is not many UNBIASED BOXING WRITERS ANYMORE! All I see is people trying to APPEAL to Pacquiao Fans and to do that they are just BASHING MAYWEATHER AND PRAISING PACQUIAO...BECAUSE IT IS THE POPULAR THING TO DO! Fight Hype is probably the only site that still AT LEAST ties to at least keep things Neutral and didn't join the ANTI-MAYWEATHER MOVEMENT lol

NOOO because the story was a Metaphor for May and Pac... and if they never fight... then they never fight..lol. i wanna see this fight happen. and i want to see it end with a KO!!... lol

so many ppl will be intrigued by this fight you could put 50 on both of em and prolly still make a profit... thats money in the bank...

hhhhhhaaaaaaaaaahaahahahahahahahahahahaa. Dude, by far the FUNNIEST thing you've ever written (not meant to be insulting), and one of the funniest/wittiest things I've read here in a while.

Fkn genius.

lol.. Meth i was genuinely disappointed when the 2 kids didnt fight.. i was always the instigator in school... like "if you 2 bitches dont fight ima kicc both of yalls asses"..lol. i hated that "idkk why were fighting, lets be friends instead" shyt... you wanna be friends beat each others asses and shake hands, i guarantee theyll be bestfriends afterwards...

this is one instance where i wish boxin was like MMA.. they wouldnt even have a choice but to fight each other... its all this crap with Managers and promoters... juss for shyts and giggles they should put 2 boxers in a cage and let them put and kicc the shyt outta each other... lol.

The point he was tryin' to make, is that neither guy wanted to make the fight happen, just like some believe Floyd and Manny don't wanna make the fight happen.
