Full Version: Are we not allowed to diss Mayweather?

I am new so forgive my ignorance but it seems as though I can comment on every other topic on the front page whilst not being allowed to comment on any Floyd Mayweather topics. What gives?
Maxy
I think your ignorance is inexcusable.

I agree. I think that the comment boards should be open for Mayweather articles. I love to indulge in the worldwide hatred of a great fighter. I like being able to shut down most of the clown talk they use to try to make my boy seem like he's afraid of lil man Manny. Let the hate shine through.

There are plenty of FMJ articles. Management has just chosen to close comment on them. I agree that letting the animals throw their own feces around is entertaining.

Even animals such as those won't get a taste of the pie.

I disagree.

We used to have a lot more posts hating on Floyd. In fact, at one point I was accused of being a closet Floyd sympathizer...simply for not joining in on the hating.

So to retort against your comment, I KNOW that we can have more Hate directed toward Floyd...because I lived it.

I am pretty sure this is still true,

A while back, this question was asked about why Mayweather Front Page comments are disabled, and this is because of the extremely controversial and polarized views that people have towards him. The comments on the main boards, and in the archives for the Mayweather-Pacquiao past negotiations are evidence of that. Management is happy and pleased to have Floyd take the time to talk with us, so due to the potential for spammy comments, we don't want Floyd to see that stuff and than risk the loss of future interviews with him. If we leave the comments open when Floyd is interviewed, the hate flood gates and the fan flood gates open up and it would be too hard to monitor the comments to make sure they did not get out of line. So we have no choice but to close Mayweather article and interview comments. The "or else" goes without saying. You all would see the bashing and disrespectful comments if we did not.

All of our fighters are very generous in taking the time to talk to us. FOR FREE! And we have to maintain and show class and respect for these people to keep a positive rapport with the fighters whom we interview, and our sponsors.

Then how about closing the comments for Manny Pacquiao articles? Oh wait if you did that then fighthype would lose out on millions of hits and traffic:)

Actually, this IS NOT true at all Jack. The removal of comments from all Mayweather-related AND Pacquiao-related INTERVIEWS has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH us not wanting to let the interviewee see them. We've NEVER received a complaint from someone we've interviewed regarding comments from fans. The ONLY reason why they were removed is because there were FAR TOO MANY RACISTS IDIOTS making comments that were getting way out of line, and because we don't have enough staff on hand to moderate that, there's no way for me to control it. I was personally receiving emails from FANS who were complaining that we let too many people say racist things, so because we don't have anyone to moderate it, I simply made the decision to remove it on both interviews AND articles that I felt would tempt people to say crazy shit. I mean, on some of those interview/articles, we were literally getting 20+ pages of the following:

QUOTE
bem thompson still kissing nigger mayweather ass!!

SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH Trash Talk Ugly Monkey!

Fuck that Nigger! Stupid niggers always say uneducated things!

i dont know why some of the writers taking time to interview that black ass gorill sr.

Black assholes. First the nigger asks for tests, then wants to rob everyone of their money.

African booty scratchers making excuses.

BLACK PEOPLE always blame others but themselves. Its a BLACK THING!

all nega fighter are losser"s

Your beloved Negroid floyd is asking 100 mills, so assuming his 1st negotiation was a ngga game

I would MUCH RATHER funnel that type of traffic to the message board where they can try to say the same type of shit, but at least we have moderators in here who can control it a lot better than they can on the main site.

So THAT'S the reason why I locked it down.

You can find comments like that on almost every website that has an anonymous comments section. Funny Videos sites are probably the worst.

Something about a keyboard and the ability to anonymously comment on things make people type crazy shit.

Actually....WE DO close comments for Manny Pacquiao articles!!!!!!

Of course, if you're not reading EVERYTHING on the site, I wouldn't expect you to know that. For just about EVERY interview I did with ALEX ARIZA (obviously a member of Team Pacquiao) leading up to the Mosley fight, commenting was turned OFF to prevent the same kind of racism from popping up. Have a look for yourself:

ALEX ARIZA: "MANNY'S STAYING FOCUSED EVEN THOUGH FREDDIE'S NOT HERE"
http://fighthype.com/pages/content9733.html

ALEX ARIZA: "IT'S SAFER FOR MANNY TO FIGHT AT 147"
http://fighthype.com/pages/content9696.html

ALEX ARIZA: "COMING IN HEAVIER IS NOT REALLY NECESSARY"
http://fighthype.com/pages/content9663.html

ALEX ARIZA: "YOU'LL BE ABLE TO SEE ALL THE SUPPLEMENTS THAT WE GIVE MANNY"
http://fighthype.com/pages/content9524.html

In fact, comments were even turned off on a Pacquiao interview:

MANNY PACQUIAO: "THIS FIGHT WILL BE ONE GOOD BATTLE...I PROMISE!"
http://fighthype.com/pages/content8774.html

Not to mention, there are plenty of Pacquiao ARTICLES that have commenting turned OFF:

TEAM PACQUIAO: UNITED WE STAND
http://fighthype.com/pages/content9693.html

MANNY PACQUIAO'S NEW SCHOOL TRAINING TECHNIQUES THE SECRET OF HIS SUCCESS
http://fighthype.com/pages/content9585.html

DON'T BE KONCZED INTO BELIEVING RUMORS ABOUT THE REAL TEAM PACQUIAO
http://fighthype.com/pages/content9352.html

AND, there are plenty of Mayweather ARTICLES that have commenting turned ON:

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED DURING THE MAYWEATHER-SPADAFORA SPARRING SESSION?
http://fighthype.com/pages/content9983.html

JESSE REID: "I UNDERSTAND THE MAYWEATHERS...WE TAUGHT HIM A GOOD LESSON!"

Not saying you can't find comments like that...and honestly, I don't even pay attention to them and could care less about them...but it's the constant EMAILS that I was getting from fans who actually were upset that prompted me to do it. I was simply tired of getting the complaints and without anyone to delegate that issue to, the solution was to eliminate the problem. But eventually, "commenting" will be removed completely from the site. In it's place, I'll probably be creating threads in the community that are linked to the articles that will allow people to "comment" only if they are registered users of the community. It's a lot easier to moderate it that way than it is to have an independent commenting plugin.

That's brilliant!

I've typed up some gold in the articles' comments sections, and they just got buried in the drivel. What you're talking about will let all of my fans read it too!

I kid, I kid...mostly I would like to openly hate on CEO's and Joe's articles, and let the community have a laugh at their expenses.

Well, I'm glad somebody finally asked! With all due respect...

I'd see ur point if the same respect was afforded for James Toney articles amongst many others which, by the way, seem ALWAYS open for comment as we frequently witness the same abuse and "type of traffic" that you say you "funnel" from a Mayweather article.

Something's not right with that...

LOL! Don't need to get your butt all hurt:)

I visit Fighthype everyday for the last 3 years I've just noticed that every Mayweather article where he is inteviewed is closed off. I may not post of the forums and much as others but I do visit the site everyday to read your articles. I found it amusing that others started calling it Floyd Hype and every article that is based on Floyd and his Father even though there able to talk there shit and express there fowl mouth opinions on Manny Pacquiao you protect them from backlash.

and I for one never commented calling Floyd Mayweather one of his many monikers made by the public, I've always been respectful, I'm sorry not everyone is.

You'd see my point? Something's not right? WTF? LOL.

I'd see YOUR point if you can actually find me a James Toney article with 20 pages worth of "nigger" this or "black ass monkey" that, but the fact of the matter is, the ugliness of certain people only seems to come out when it pertains to Mayweather/Pacquiao disucssions. So THAT'S why comments remain open for those articles.

My butts not hurt at all smile.gif

HOWEVER, I absolutely DO have to spell it out with MULTIPLE examples for people like the person I just replied to, Extant, who seems to think there are James Toney articles with 20+ pages worth of racist comments. Apparently, I'm going to have to find examples of James Toney articles now because someone thinks that those articles are full of comments with racist remarks.

SERIOUSLY, some of you REALLY need to do some research before you start making such general assumptions.

And YES, every interview with Mayweather has ABSOLUTELY been closed off for comments because we saw how bad it was when we used to leave comments open for Mayweather Sr. interviews (if you've TRULY visited FightHype every day for the last 3 years, then you would know that we used to leave comments on for all of those until it started to get way out of hand). Now, if Mayweather Sr. brings out that kind of racist hatred in people, I can only imagine what interview with Lil Floyd is going to do.

And for the record, like I just said, but you failed to mention, IT'S NOT JUST MAYWEATHER INTERVIEWS...it's also MANNY PACQUIAO INTERVIEWS, or ALEX ARIZA INTERVIEWS, or FREDDIE ROACH INTERVIEWS, or pretty much ANYONE THAT'S AFFILIATED WITH MAYWEATHER VS. PACQUIAO.

Of course, like I said, for the most part, that's just interviews. Feel free to leave as many nasty comments on any press releases or any articles that still have commenting on.

laugh.gif

And just out of curiosity, how the hell are we "protecting" them from backlash? You actually think they're sitting around reading your comments and getting their feelings hurt?

laugh.gif

The ONLY thing I'm protecting is my Inbox from pissed off people who say we allow racism on the site. That's about it. But as far as "protecting" the Mayweathers? I'm sorry, but I find that so very laughable. I guess I was "protecting" Alex Ariza too, as well as Manny Pacquiao, when we decided to leave commenting off of those interviews. LOL. Geesh!

Case closed!

Thanks Ben! That explains everything.

I hope the above clears everything up for our readers as well. Some people will ask me sometimes about the main page comments, but as I do so much of my work on the forums, I was sort of unsure about our rules and stuff about the Front Page Articles. Thanks for all your work Hype, and to all the staffers who work so hard on the main page. I have to apologize for not being as informed about it as I should be! The first person interviews really are the best. Because people know what's on, and what's going on with the fighters themselves. Having their thoughts and feelings come from them about the fight game, produces the kind of stories and insight that our fans and readers want to see.

But I agree, the potential for racist and discriminating comments would be something that we would have to watch, but that would be almost impossible to moderate on the main page because of time constraints.

Jack
