I feel there are only a handful of quality posters here anymore. I used to really enjoy reading and posting in this forum all the time, but now it's mainly just the same BS getting posted. I know it does not help either with boxings sad state right now. This is the only boxing forum I ever posted in, and have zero urge to go elsewhere, just don't feel like posting as much right now.

I also know I mean nothing here, but I just figured I would give my opinion.

Guys there are some decent new posters here who are contributing to the forum in many ways. I just say give it some time & see how it goes. Even Fitz is MIA these days & I just hope that toothless feral pies supporter is on a holiday or something.

Boxing is a bit slow right now & when you have two show ponies who are the most popular fighters out there you are gonna get a lot of shit talked about each one.

I will admit to losing a lot of interest in boxing over the years due to a number of reasons but as a guy in my 30's I am very different to the Stevenski in his 20's. I still love boxing & watch what I can when I can but I also have other priorities in my life. This forum has been the only boxing one I post on in a number of years.

BTW whilst I respect TKO, Sharkey & Hawks classics knowledge & could always hang in a debate with them they were pompous elitist arseholes who tore anyone who did not have X level of knowledge a new one. That was BS as educating/enlightening newer or less knowledgable fans as to why the greats are so revered is good & you don't need to be a jerk off about it.

I have no problem with any of the new posters but what some need is what I needed...to be humbled. When I first got here I was Roy Jones this and Roy Jones that... I didn't care about nobody else but Roy Jones. After I got dug into by a few poster such as Fitz, Method, Johnny, Steve and others I actually took the time to learn more about other fighters and the sport. They weren't complete assholes well except for Method but they son'd me on my knowledge and taught me at th same time. That was the best thing that could have ever happen. Some of the new posters got to put their egos to the side and admit they dont know everything!

Maybe you're just spending too much time paying attention to the Floyd Mayweather articles/interviews as opposed to seeing everything else that's going up...or maybe you just don't give a fuck about James Toney, Eddie Chambers, Carl Froch, Andre Ward, Chad Dawson, Burt Watson, Jermll Charlo, Ishe Smith, Peter Quillin, Tony Thompson, Vernon Paris, or Amir Khan, but there's FAR MORE STUFF about other fighters on the site for you to read...assuming, of course, you're interested in any of it.

2. In the past 7 days, all of the 18 interviews/articles above have been posted and NONE of them have anything to do with Floyd Mayweather and/or Manny Pacquiao. Meanwhile, during that 7-day timeframe, there's been 6 articles/interviews regarding Floyd Mayweather (2 of which were related to the episode of 24/7) and 2 articles/interviews regarding Manny Pacquiao (both of which were positive).

3. The motherfucker has a fight coming up in roughly 17 days, so guess what...you're probably going to see more articles/interviews regarding Floyd Mayweather.

As soon as TMZ broke the story that he was checking into rehab, we dropped a story right after that telling you it was cocaine and infidelity related, despite the fact that nobody else, including TMZ, knew why. Hell, TMZ didn't even follow-up their own story until 2 days later when they spoke to their "sources".

Again, I hate to toot our own horn and say "I told you so", but fuck, I've seen so much bitching, complaining, and moaning about the site on our own fucking message board that I had to put a little something positive out there. I mean, the De La Hoya story I really could care less about since, truth be told, his cocaine issues have been talked about for quite some time behind closed doors by other people within the industry...but I've seen certain people questioning some of the information I've personally provided about Manny Pacquiao, his finances and whatnot, making it sound as though I'm trying to paint a certain picture of the guy for one particular reason or another, but believe what I tell you, people that we talk to know their shit and unlike some "writers", if I put something out there, it's not because I'm just grabbing it out of nowhere, throwing it against the wall and hoping something sticks.

I'm just saying, before you're quick to believe something from the "credible journalists", or should I say, those people who you deem to be "more credible" than us, just understand that for the most part, the people that we speak to are "different" than the people that they speak to and usually, our information is coming from someone a lot closer to the source (as opposed to their promoter, manager, or some other handler who have their own agenda). One need only look at the difference in some of our interviews to know that. Case in point, just look at the way Big Floyd spoke to Percy recently compared to the way he spoke to Lem Satterfield over at ringtv.com. There's a BIG difference in what Big Floyd gave Percy than what he gave Lem, who some of you would call the "credible journalist". Simply put, we have better relationships with people, therefore, we get better information. Just a little something to think about, as Vivek would put it. Obviously, I'm sure some of you "old guard" already know that (although I'm not sure some of you do considering some of the bitching I've seen as of late), but just in case some of you newbies didn't know, consider yourself in the know now.

Honestly, if you look at the BIGGER PICTURE, I think you can educate yourself a lot more about what's going on in the sport if you pay attention to things like that. I mean, if De La Hoya was smiling in the cameras and lying about the photos back in 2007, going so far as to scare the chick by suing her because he adamantly claimed the photos were doctored, what else has he been smiling and lying about? Who else has he been scaring by using the power of his money? And if someone like Pacquiao or Mayweather are running through their money, it might help explain why they're making some of the business decisions they're making when it comes to fights that are taking place...or not taking place for that matter. I mean, it's cool if you don't care, but obviously there's FAR MORE people who actually do care. I actually like the content on the site. Where else am I going to get solid interviews from K9 Budradge, Vernon Paris, and Pawel Wolak? I like hearing from fighters like these, since many of them have belts but they'll never get to PPV status. However, they make for some captivating fights. I mean, Wolak was just in a FOTY candidate in July, K9 fought a solid fight to avenge the loss against Powell, and Paris fought in a really good fight against Tim Coleman. I'm a sucker for the juicy shit too, so I'm always on that lol. I just don't read half the Mayweather articles, and that's my choice. I'll prolly read more of it though as we get closer to his fight. Keep up the good work Ben.

Im going to throw out one more criticism hype. and that is maybe you put up too many articles. for instance "pacman turns his back on pacland" and "ORTIZ SOUNDS CONFIDENT, BUT IS HE UNDERESTIMATING MAYWEATHER?" are nothing more than an average message board post of a fan ranting. I don't think it's elitist. Those of us who have been here for the past few years had a good thing going and it kinda sucked to have that taken away, or compromised or whatever. I don't think anyone here has anything against new members. If you think back a few years ago we had Marv, King, and Blaze all show up around the same time. These guys were all kinda new and eager and they got a little bit of shit for it initially, but they all stuck around and eventually became key members of the community (for as long as they did stick around at least). Same thing a couple of years ago when Ollie and Keith showed up.

The difference this time is that there were SO many new guys who all showed up at once - they suddenly outnumbered the regulars. And with the exception of one or two, they all pretty much seemed to have the same agenda, which was to flood the front page with thread after thread singing the praises of Floyd Mayweather. 'Floyd's the GOAT', 'Haters keep hating while Money keep cashin checks.' There were no legitimate discussions anymore it seemed, no real debates. It was just nuthug-nuthug-hate...nuthug-nuthug-hate...rinse-wash-repeat. I've never gone to other message boards but from the way people have described them, ours was starting to become a carbon copy. Now - this seemed to have died down - and the past few days it seems like the board has gotten closer to its previous level of quality. That's a good thing, but it would be a shame if we permanently lost some of the guys who really helped make this place what it was. Guys like JD and CEO. Now, CEO told me he would be back, though to what extent he wasn't sure.

Also, Snoop, I don't think you can really say with a straight face that Fighthype is not right now a Pro-Mayweather site. Yeah, sure, perhaps that's exacerbated by the fact that so many other sites hate him, but...come on man. This site is rolling with Floyd. With that said, I don't think you or FH are necessarily anti-Manny Pac. Funny how people feel like to be one you automatically have to be the other. I mean, that hideous disgrace of a rotting canoe you built last year notwithstanding, I've never found your work to have any personal bias to it whatsoever. I think fighthype is pretty down the middle with regards to Pacquiao, and reporting on his business dealings when, like Hype said, they might help explain his professional motives to some degree, IS newsworthy. And if Ben is cool with Floyd and wants to give him props on his site, that's his choice to do so. Mayweather seems like the kind of cat that doesn't want to hear anything negative about himself, so I get that in order to have the kind of access Hype had - which really was pretty incredible and I'm sure was a financial boom for the site - you can't really come down too hard on the guy for anything. And again, there are plenty of other sites that do that. It's not like if you want to read something bad about Floyd Mayweather you have to hunt high and low to do it. I really have no issues with the content of the front page at all.

But the message board was my bread and butter here, always has been and always will be so long as I'm around. And there is simply no doubt that the quality there took a major hit for a while. Hopefully that time passed and we're back to being the best and some of the old guys take a peek again and see that for themselves and decide to return. But Snoop, my man, go back and read some of the stuff in the archives from 2008-2010. CEO used to call some of those threads PPV quality, and he was exactly right.

I still like the board, even with the sudden influx of some huggers. But that's the fun of a discussion board, people get to voice their opinion, whether it's dumb or not, and at the end maybe they learn something from the shellacking that they get.

Yeah some of the repeat threads involving Mayweather-Pacquia-Ortiz are annoying, but that's why I don't click on them.

Nice post Slim, but I'm with Mustard on this one. I guess I've always been of the thinking, "If you don't like what's on the screen, change the channel." Don't get me wrong, the old days were fucking great; full of rivalries for the ages and knowledgeable, well-spoken posters. I wasn't as active during those days, so perhaps part of that has to do with my opinion as well. But what I'm trying to say is that we still have a pretty strong community here. Yeah we're losing some key posters, but we're also getting some decent ones too. I guess just don't let a few idiots ruin the board for us. It's really in our control.

In terms of the site being "Pro-Mayweather", I mean I can definitely see why people might think that way, but considering how Mayweather is with the media, it's pretty impossible for him to speak on the "hard questions." He'd more than likely just tell em to fuck off. From what I've seen, Hype just let's him speak, and barring some of the self-appraisal BS Mayweather does at times, I thought the whole "Evenings with Mayweather" series was excellent. I suppose something is better than nothing, no?

Gravy, Finito, BlueMercury, Allmenjoi, Eighty88Eight are all good posters. I know I'm gonna get bashed for mentioning some of those names, but like I said in my post, they're all coherent and at the very least they're making things more interesting. Don't get me wrong, we've lost some GREAT posters, but we still have a good community here. I just don't see the point of making such a fuss about all the fanatics we've gotten recently. We only give them more credence if we acknowledge them.

Not for nothing, but pretty much ALL ARTICLES are simply rantings of a writer, which could probably be on a message board. I mean, where the hell do you think guys like Gabe Montoya, Coyote Duran, Cliff Rold, etc. got their start? They were all simply message board posters at one point. That's not to say that those articles compare to any of their articles...but hey...trust me...they're DEFINITELY getting read and I haven't been receiving any complaints about those writers.
