For all comments on the fight tonight. Undefeated, and unknown at about 15-1 odds. Will Barker do anything to be competitive in this fight, against one of the top PFP fighters in the world, Sergio Martinez?

No Buster Douglas over Tyson here as I see it. Martinez by KO in 5 rounds. Brutal

Keep all the comments in this thread. I will ask, has anyone seen Barker fight before?

i think the best barker can hope for it coming here fighting and proving he has the balls to stand up to the best, but i doubt he'll damage martinez
caneman
Maravilla stops him in 4 rounds!

Martinez wins by TKO and then proceeds to call out Mayweather and Pacman in the post fight interview.

If he does he is a bitch.

Never saw Barker fight before, but hopefully he has some good rounds..whether he wins or loses. Let's just hope these two Abercrombie & Fitch models put on a show tonight...

Did he just introduce Barker as Baker? I wasn't focused at the time.

Yep, smh...

Round 2 = Very good d from Barker being cautious looking for his shots. SMartinez busier but not really landing anything. Nice jab by Barker. Good right from Barker. SMartinez frustrated but still wins round.

20-18 SMartinez.

Could there even be a spoiler about this fight?

SPOILER ALERT: Martinez's chief second DID NOT...I REPEAT...DID NOT wear his sunglasses in between the second to third round.
Mean Mister Mustard
This is looking a lot like the early rounds of the Cintron fight, with Martinez missing a lot.

This blood aint lookin' too good on Sergio... looks like he's having a hard time, though he's working hard.
Box in Hand
Sergio is having some trouble in there. Can't penetrate the high guard and is getting hit way too much.
caneman
I don't like this hands down shit, I would want my hands up! Just saying!
Cshel86
Martinez looks pressed to make his mark on the fight, though he's landed those rights. Barker is screwing himself by not throwing as much, but his defense is tight. Maybe he's waiting for the right moment...
Box in Hand
This ain't no pound 4 pound performance. Sergio may win on activity but he is getting beat by a basic style. Get ur hands up dude!
Cshel86
Damn Barker just aint doin' enough! Its clear to see that Sergio is a bit uncomfortable, so why not go at it?
Cshel86
Where are the body shots Martinez? This head-hunting with his hands down is not the best move...
Box in Hand
This fight is Winky Wright vs. Joe Calzaghe.
Cshel86
I will give the 8th to Barker as a comparitive round...compared to the 4th round. He landed some decent rights and his jab cant miss.
STEVENSKI
Ok right here & now we can give the win to Floyd over Martinez. No need to make the figh now.
Box in Hand
Better round 4 Martinez but damn his defense sucks. If Barker let his hands go there would be more than a bloody mouth on Martinez.
Cshel86
Hope he didn't punch himself out with that wild rally because most of those shots didn't land...
Allmenjoi8
I really do like Sergio. He reminds me of the way Roy Jones boxed. With his hands down and jabbing with a leap. This fight showed he can go the rounds and be patient for his shots. Excellent. Plus the story of him helping the young girl just further made me a fan of Sergio. Good fight
E.C.LEGEND
I don't know about that KO
Box in Hand
Good shot but Martinez CANNOT beat Floyd Mayweather. He beats Pacquiao but damn dude the Joe Calzaghe impression needs to stop.
Jack 1000
Haven't been watching. But it sounds like this Barker dude seems to be Sergio's answer to Winky Wright, who on good nights can make great fighters look bad, is doing better than expected, but not enough to win rounds.

So much for King Sergio being competitive against Mayweather or Pacquiao IF this Barker fight is just more than an ordinary off night for him.

Barker I think will certainly gain respect after this fight.

EXACTLY, bro. That's why this guy just can NOT crack the top P4P for me. He's having a nice little go at it. Fantastic for him. He is NOT among the P4P elite.

Bring on Mayweather! War Maravilla!

RJJ's fighting style was based off of pure athleticism, so he did what he wanted to do in fights...
E.C.LEGEND
A fight with hopkins would be iffy. lol The only way martinez would win would be based on activity.
Cshel86
Barker did give up, smh. I ruled it a temple shot before the replay, but that shit landed on the back of his head and was mostly blocked. Buffer almost has me calling this guy "Baker" no2.gif ...thanks buffer.

If you had Martinez above Floyd or Pac he has to be knocked down a notch. Martinez got the KO but there are holes in his defense and he got busted up by a dude who had a very limited output in punches. This is Winky Wright vs Joe Calzaghe in my eyes. Nothing marvelous about this showing.
Col Reb
Hopefully Floyd sees those holes and takes the fight. Weknow Sampson & DiBella will make for easy negotiations for Floyd.

I hope FMJ feels the same way and we see it, ever think he might have done this to get fights? Plus FMJ never had an off night? I don't like the hands down and think he should start killing to the body especially but yea bring in FMJ...FMJ will never sign it!

No Floyd won't sign since Martinez doesn't have much of a fan base outside hardcore fans and that porno chick. I think tonight didn't help either. Floyd will take Khan before Martinez.

SMartinez just stopped a tall, skilled, quick undefeated fighter. Sorry, I don't knock him down at all. The hands down irritated me but I think he was doing it to get the dude to open up which to barker's credit he resisted doing.

I like Sergio and he fought his heart out but he needs to tighten up his defense. He takes too many shots and tonight doesn't make his stock rise in my eyes.
Method
IMO, Floyd would fuck Martinez up. Im just NOT impressed w him. Further, Martinez doesn't deserve it.

But Floyd is such a draw he can do 2million PPV's by himself why not?! Box I always liked to but the words outta mouth since all the new nuttmites came here has made off from what I remember of you! All good, I think it's a pile on thing! But all good bro! And hell yea he'd take Khan 1st! lmfao dang box!

LOL, I hear you man. I'm not big on the way Sergio performed tonight that's all. He got hit way too much for my liking and the hands at the side thing is meant to confuse an opponent. It shouldn't be the only thing in his style especially if he's getting hit too much because of it. In my honest opinion I just think Floyd schools him.

Cool but I disagree. He made a decent fight out of an ugly situation. I'll take this performance over Pac v The Flinch and FMJ v Ortiz. And I'll take SMartinez until he loses.

Wow you take this over the complete outclassing of a younger stronger and heavier fighter with all right hands? I like Sergio and Floyd not a big Pacquiao fan and just am calling it like I saw it. Sergio just got hit too much by a fighter who attacked in straight lines and limited punch output.

The "Winky" defense will work against Sergio. The trouble is, you have to have the output and power to keep Sergio from jumping you. BTW, will somebody check Sergio's gloves and blood please...

FMJ should sign it then if he can't get pacman, from what you say it's easy work since it's $may, he'll do 2 million buys for scratching his balls! I love it!

Alright, enough of this putrid horseshit, than who deserves it? Personally, I don't blame FMJ and Pac for not fighting him but he doesn't deserve it? Bullshit.

OK.
Mean Mister Mustard
Martinez basically used his speed, power and conditioning to outwork and stop a young skilled foe. I think this Barker lad will become better with experience but tonight he was just in there with a guy who has the extra gear to take you into his zone and not let you out until he stops you or the final bell rings.

Martinez does have defensive holes but I also see some problems with his offense. He's pretty much throws straight punches. He rarely attacks with hooks or uppercuts, nor does he counter with them. So far he's done great but against Mayweather, that shit would not be as effective.

Sergio stops Mayweather and Pacquiao. It wasnt just the "winky," that Serge was having trouble with. It was the size of Barker. Thats why he had such a tough tiome figuring Williams and Pavlik out. Those smaller guys, he can go all out on. They wont be able to hurt him and he can just go to work on them with movement and angles. Mayweather and Pacquiao would be fighting a guy just as good as them, bigger with more power and arguably as much speed, agility and defense.

BTW, Barker looked like a guy who could beat Any Lee. It appeared to me that he was thrown in with Martinez, much too early in his career.

+ 1 and you were on point on the stoppage too! And NO way FMJ TAKES THE FIGHT SO MAYBE HE'LL GROW THE BALLS TO DO SO! LMFAO

Though Barker was slightly taller, his defense was tight and consistent, which Sergio hasn't experienced as of late. P. Willy was just a tree meant to be chopped down because he failed at using his size, his defense was garbage, and he set his chin up on a date for those lefts (in the 2nd fight) and those rights (in the first fight).

Fair enough. And I disagree. If FMJ really wants to enhance his legacy, he will fight SMartinez at 154 and prove you right. First of all it probably won't happen. Secondly, SMartinez would put him to sleep.

And he didn't get hit that much, considering the style of the fight.

Well I agree with what you stated. At 154 Floyd has trouble but at 150 he beats Martinez in a bloody chess match. It won't happen though so we are left to imagine.
