Yea,I totally agree. A good friend of mine is friends with Manny. He goes to all of Manny's fights and chills with him before and after. Sometimes he even runs with Manny and Alex. He said that it's sad how many people use Manny. As much of a defender he is of Manny, he said it's partly his fault. "Manny is too nice and doesn't know how to say no." That being said, he confirmed what I've been preaching for years. Arum and others have benefitted from the fact that they found this young, marketable FOREIGN kid, who isn't used to much, sold him a dream of more and they're milking him for all he's worth. Problem is, theres a huge disparity between MORE and MOST in Manny's case. Manny hasn't even come close to the money he should be making. I think a lot of people overlook the fact that he's a foreigner from a poor country, being a huge factor in why he's been exploited so easily.
While Manny isn't getting the best financial deal from Big Pimpin', he knows exactly what he's doing and he's fine with it. It's all a game by them. Good cop/bad cop. The final straw for me was the ridiculous comment that Freddie Roach recently made about how if Pacquaio's fighting a dirty fighter and the dirty fighter hits him low, even if Freddie Roach tells him to retaliate he won't. You're trying to tell me that a kid who grew up on the streets never had to fight dirty to survive? Puhleaze!
As far as being a poor kid from a foreign country, I don't think that he signed with them because he didn't know any better. At the time that he signed with Big Pimpin' there was a furious bidding war between them and Golden Boy, so it wasn't as if he hadn't seen big numbers before. I'm convinced that he knows exactly what he's doing.
Big Pimpin' FTW!!
