I don't know if this is done in the sport already but if they could do something to spice up things I'd say winner takes in 60% of the shares & gets a 15% bonus increase (from the winners share) if he wins by K.O. or Stoppage. I think with this rule added would increase the number of K.O.'s we see in each fight thus making the sport as popular as it once was. Everybody wins.......... except the loser.

Easy....60/40 split to the winner and bonus $$$ for KOs. Eliminate the plethora of belts in each division, enforce mandatories and ban judges for egregious scorecards.

BTW, none of the aforementioned has a chance in hell of happening.

Making it more "interesting," I agree with Franchize and alaganza. Bnoles' & Gambit's points would probably help, but I can see a champion saying why should he risk his belt for a possible 40% return. Re. making it a "better" sport, I'd like to see the following (tall orders, but it would be nice to see):

1. Establish a national association (ideally an international association that coordinates with national associations, like FIFA does with the various national and regional FAs). A proper association that supersedes the WBA, WBCs, IBFs of the world.
a) The associations will co-ordinate/regulate promoters, judges and of course boxers.
) Judges will be officially ranked based on how many matches they've judged, the accuracy of their scorecards and their independence from the promoters.
c) The associations will set up a retirement and health care fund for professional boxers. For all the tea party boxers out there, participation in the retirement and health care fund will be voluntary so you will not be forced to support socialism.
d) Random blood and urine PED testing such as is done for the Olympics. Shit, if the Olympics, with its history of serious corruption can do such a good job with PED testing, then I don't see why boxing can't.

2. Manny Pacquaio lives up to his retirement promise to serve the Lord (no not the Bobfather). This will result in all of his supporters abandoning boxing, thus sparing me from hearing/reading the dark contents of their minds (that includes espn). That will truly be a beautiful day.

when boxing is done right, it is already perfect.

i would give judges vision and sobriety tests before every fight. i'd also set up a panel to judge the judges and refs.

i'd have the good refs give clinics regularly to all the shitty refs. i'd bring back larry hazzard and make him the head of all the athletic commissions and a liason to all the sanctioning bodies. then i'd make sure he would be grooming a few successors.

i'd get rid of larry merchant and jim lampley...and give max kellerman a stern warning to get his shit straight or else he can join them.

i'd eliminate contract stipulations and catchweights. fight at ur weight, his weight or just give up pounds...but no more of this making ppl drain or come up to weights that aren't natural so u can beat a compromised fighter. fight straight up...or there is no fight.

while we're at it...let's go back to 8 weight divisions, 1 champ per division with a minimum of 2 title defenses every year, 15 round championship fights and 8 oz gloves for everyone under jr middle. 10 oz for everyone else.

no more sitting on titles or keeping fights in house with certain promoters. i don't give a shit who's a draw and who isn't.

last but not least....i'd stop giving mma/ufc a free piggy back ride on our sport. when i go to the barbershop...i got to get my hair cut...not to buy chicken wings or get a tattoo. when i tune in to watch baseball...i don't expect to hear shit about basketball or football...those are totally different sports.
